Friday5 With Team Driver Evan Roeth

In this edition of the JConcepts Friday5 we talk to Canadian team driver, Evan Roeth!

1. How did you get started in RC? Was it racing right away, or did you bash vehicles before you found out about the RC race scene?

I got started in RC through a friend of mine that had a bunch of bashers and let me try some out. I found out that I really enjoyed it and got one of my own. I ran it for fun at skate parks for around six months then found out about the racing side of the hobby and picked that up. I’ve been racing seven years now and absolutely love it!

2. From your experience what is the easiest AND hardest maintenance task on your RC cars?

I really enjoy wrenching on my cars and spend a lot of my time doing so. One thing I find difficult would be soldering/wiring as I am very picky with how my cars look so it takes me a good amount of time to get it how I want it. Something I find easy is gluing tires, and this is also one of my favorite things to do on the maintenance side of the hobby.

3. In your opinion, what classes have you noticed that seem to be in a decline? And how would you try to resolve this so there is more participation?

I have noticed the 1/10 classes declining a lot in entries on the surfaces I race on most of the year which is old fashioned dirt racing. Specifically the 1/10 2wd classes. I see a lot of the newer cars being made for higher bite surfaces, even the dirt version of the car kit. I think having some option parts suited for looser track conditions would really help bring back the class back to life!

4. To date what is your favorite JConcepts product of all time and why?

Personally I love all of the JConcepts products available, but if I were to pick one it would have to be the S15 bodies. They look absolutely amazing and are the best performing bodies I’ve ran!

5. Obviously you are into RC racing but what other activities do you find enjoyment with?

Outside of the hobby I enjoy playing football with friends. I also enjoy playing video games in my spare time.
