Race Team Update – March 2024 Week #5

The JConcepts race team keeps their March momentum moving forward with another solid weekend of racing! Read all about it in this new edition of the Race Team Update!

We start this week’s report at PDX RC Underground in Portland, OR. This facility hosted the 7th Annual Northwest Stock Championship last weekend and team driver Joseph Levin took home 3 TQs and wins in the 13.5 Stadium Truck and 4wd Buggy classes along with Pro 17.5 2wd Buggy!

Next, we send it south to SDRC Raceway in San Diego, CA. This track hosted Round 1 of the JBRL 1/10 Off-Road Points Series that saw over 200 entries! Let’s see how the team finished up starting with JC pilot Chris Raceles. He reported that he competed in both the 40+ 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes, and he would the end the round with a 4th place finish in wheeler and 2nd overall in 2wd!

Team driver Jeff Guest competed in both the 40+ 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes, and he would set the TQ in the 4wd class then race on to pick up the W in both!

Fellow JC driver Chris Raymond would finish right behind him on the podium in the 40+ 4wd class, and he also finished a solid 7th place in 40+ 2wd Buggy!

His son and fellow JConcepts driver Levi Raymond raced in the Mod 2wd Buggy class where he finished 3rd overall!

Team driver Matthew Gonzales raced in the Mod 2wd Buggy class and would wrap up the day with the win!

Now we head east and stop in at Taylor Park Raceway in Yukon, OK to see how the team finished up at their 10th Annual Spring Nationals. Starting with team driver Kevin Mcnatt he let us know that he competed in the SC Mod class where he picked up the feature win! He also finished 4th overall in the Street Stock class after starting the main in last place!

His tire teammate Tyler Keel raced in the Open Sprint class and would secure the 2nd spot on the podium!

Heading north into Kansas we stop in at Need4Speed RC located in Garden City to see how the team performed at their Field of Dreams dirt oval event. Team driver Will Brinton competed in the Invite Sprint class and would bump out of the B Main to finish 2nd overall! Taking the win in this class was his fellow JC driver Tyler Hooks!

Heading up to Iowa let’s get this quick update from team driver Jake Wiggs. This past weekend he went to Crash N Bash Hobbies located in Cedar Rapids for their 1st Annual King of the Carpet trophy event that brought out over 100 entries! He raced in four classes and put in great results!

  • 13.5 Stadium Truck = TQ and 1st place
  • Mod 2wd Buggy = TQ and 1st place
  • 17.5 2wd Buggy = 2nd place
  • 13.5 4wd Buggy = 2nd place

He also took home their “King of the Carpet” award by having the best overall score after adding up his points from all of his classes. He also earns our coveted “ironman” award for the week by competing in the most classes at an event for the team too!

Crossing the Mississippi we make our way to Rockdale, IL to get this quick update from team driver Lukas Klein. He recently competed at Crawler Canyon RC Park in an elimination competition were you got eliminated if you made any mistakes on the course, and you ran until all but one person is eliminated. After round 1 he was tied with three other drivers and in round 2 he picked up the win!

Bouncing over to the Hoosier state we roll up to Finish Line Raceway in Hudson to meet up with team driver Ilan Sanderson. He raced there over the weekend in the final round of the Turf Wars Series, and he would set the TQ in the Mod 2wd Buggy, plus he would pick up the win along with another W in 17.5 2wd Buggy! When the series points were tallied up he would also finish 1st overall in both classes!

Heading down to Tennessee we meet up with team driver Jonah Wilson for this quick report. Last weekend he went to the city of Crossville where the RC Farm is located to compete in their season opener. He would set the TQ and pick up the wins in both the 1/8 Pro Nitro and Electric Buggy classes!

Also competing for the team at this event was JC driver Wade Piggott. He would finish 4th in 1/8 Pro Nitro Buggy, 2nd place in 1/8 Pro Electric Buggy and set the TQ and take win in 1/8 Pro Electric Truggy!

Making our way to the coast let’s stop in Virginia to get a few updates from the team competing at different events. Starting at Adrenaline RC Raceway in Winchester team driver Garrett Hawbaker competed there last Saturday for the final round of their points series, and he would finish 1st overall in the Mod 4wd and 2wd Buggy classes!

Staying in the state we now head to Leaned Out Raceway in Disputanta to see how the team finished up at their season opener. Team driver Maddy Long finished 2nd overall in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class, plus she picked up the TQ and win in 1/8 Pro Electric Buggy! Team driver Rusty Mihelich competed in the same two classes, and he would finish 4th in e buggy and 3rd overall in the nitro class!

Sending it down to South Carolina let’s stop in at Piedmont where S&B RC Speedway is located. This past weekend they held their March Madness trophy event, and team driver David Olsen took the TQ and win in the 1/8 Pro Electric Buggy class!

Team driver Jake Stikeleather was also in attendance and he finished 2nd overall in the 1/8 Pro Nitro Buggy class!

His son Evan would take the TQ and win in the 12 and under class too!

Continuing to Georgia we stop in at the Loganville RC Complex located in the town of Loganville. They also held a recent March Madness trophy race, and team driver Derrick Harris competed in the 1/8 Pro Electric Buggy and Truggy classes. In the e buggy class he just missed the transfer spot to the A Main and in e truggy class he made the main and finished 6th overall!

Finally, let’s fly down to Florida to see how the team finished up at Round 3 of the Florida RC Championship that took place at Newberry RC Park in the town of Newberry. Team driver Zach Griggs reported that he finished 5th in 17.5 2wd Buggy, 4th in 13.5 4wd Buggy and he also set the TQ and took the win in the Stadium Truck class!

Team driver Sean Krause raced in the Pro 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes, and he would end the day with a 2nd place finish in wheeler and 1st place in stock buggy!
