In this edition of the JConcepts Friday5 we talk to Michigan team driver, Brady Carrico!
1. Ok let’s start with how you got first involved in RC. Did you pick it up from someone, stumbled across a local track, etc.?
My dad walked into the local hobby shop one day and picked up a Traxxas slash. Not long after that I got a Traxxas Stampede for my 4th birthday, and then we quickly upgraded to 2wd buggies.
2. In your area you compete in a lot of off-road carpet racing. Some racers can struggle to glue carpet tires due to their harder compounds, so what are some tips you can share to make this task easier?
Always use the JConcepts Medium Advanced Formulated Tire Glue. If you use too thin or too thick it can make a mess or take too long to dry. I also like to clean the bead of the tire with motor spray to make sure the surface is clean and it doesn’t come off.
3. Name a RC class that you would like to see increase in popularity and why?
I would like to see the Mod 2wd Buggy class grow some more as the top stock drivers begin to step up to make way for upcoming stock drivers, and increase the competition.
4. When it comes to new products released from JConcepts, what are you most excited to see released and why? Is it a new body, new tire, new accessory, etc?
I’m looking forward to trying out the new Smoothie 3 tires in the new Gold 1, 2, and 3 compounds. I’ve had good success with the Silver compound Smoothie 2’s so I’m looking forward to trying the next generation.
5. Besides RC racing, what other activities do you enjoy?
Besides RC racing, in my free time I enjoy sim-racing on games like iRacing, and can relate some of the skills with RC.
