Race Team Update – July 2026 Weeks #1 & #2

Over the past two weeks the JConcepts race team stays red hot on tracks around the globe. Read all about it in this double-stuffed edition of the Race Team Update!

We start this week’s special report at the HobbyTown USA HobbyPlex (The Plex) in Omaha. This past weekend was another round of their Summer Series so let’s see how the team finished up. Team driver, and Plex race director, Alex Sturgeon reported that he would finish 5th in Mod 2wd Buggy and 2nd place in Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy! Taking the W in the 17.5 class was his tire teammate Owen Vanderbeek and rounding out the podium for a JConcepts sweep was team driver Andrew Thomas!

JC driver David Peavler was also at this most recent round and he would just miss the podium in the Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy, plus he would grab the TQ and W in the 40+ Mod 2wd Buggy class! He was joined on the 40+ podium by fellow JC driver Mack Vanderbeek!

His son Jayme would finish 7th in Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy along with the TQ and win in the Independent 17.5 2wd Buggy class!

Moving up to Minnesota we now visit the RC Underground Raceway in the city of Warren. This past weekend they held Round 2 of their Summer Series, and team driver Marco Moreno reported that he would finish the day with a DNF in 1/8 Electric Buggy, but he bounced back in the Mini Truggy class as he took the TQ and win!

Staying in the state we get our next update from team driver Thor Ott.

At a recent event held at Lake Superior R/C Car Club in the town of Proctor he would double-down with two TQs and wins in the Open and Vintage 2wd Buggy classes!

Crossing the state line we now get a few updates from the team competing in Wisconsin. Recently team driver Tyler Aubart traveled to Rick’s Hobby Farm in New Richmond to sign up for the Russ Cramblit Memorial race. He would come home with the TQ and win in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class, plus he also took the win in the E-Buggy Battle which is a head to head single lap double elimination tournament!

Our next update in the state comes to us from team driver Ryan Derenne. This past weekend he went to The Yard RC Raceway in Luxemburg to compete in their 2026 Best Of The Rest trophy event.

When the event was over he would finish 3rd in the 1/8 Electric Truggy class along with a 2nd place finish in Stadium Truck!

Leaping Lake Michigan we now splash down at Krater Dirt Oval Raceway in Ionia, MI for our next update.

Team driver Adam Forist was turning left hand laps for their Burnt Rubber Meltdown this past Saturday, and he let us know that he would take home the win in the Outlaw Late Model class!

On to Ohio we now visit TARCAR in the city of Toledo. Round 1 of the Lake Erie series took place there last weekend, and it was another clean sweep for the JConcepts class as team drivers Kyle King (TQ & 2nd), Chuck Berg (1st) and Tony Sosnowicz (3rd) locked down the 1/8 Electric Buggy podium!

Tony would also finish 3rd in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class, and taking the TQ and win in nitro buggy was his tire teammate Michael Rinke!

Staying in the state we now move to Magic Hobbies in the town of Strasburg. Recently they held their Summer Slam 3 trophy event, and team driver Geoffrey Ketler was crushing the competition with great results!

  • Mini LMT = 1st place
  • LMT = 1st place
  • Show N Shine = 1st place
  • Stage 2 Retro = 3rd place

Heading east we now visit Riverview RC Raceway in Jersey Shore, PA. There we find team driver Matt Adams was competing there for some dirt oval action. He would finish the event with a 2nd place finish in Sprint Car, plus the TQ and win in the Midget Sprint and Late Model classes!

Wiggling our way down to West Virginia we now visit Altitude RC in the town of Beckley. They recently held another round of their Monday Night Mayhem points series and team driver Casey Bias would double up that night with two TQs and wins in the Expert 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes!

His son Colton was also throwing down fast laps and would set the TQ then race on to finish 2nd in the Adult Novice 17.5 2wd Buggy class!

Crossing the state line we now visit Adrenaline RC in Winchester, VA . This track was host to the recent Round 3 of the Virginia Off-Road Championship Series, and team driver Layton Miskolczi would finish 4th in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class along with a 2nd place finish in the 1/8 Electric Truggy class! Taking the TQ and W in the e truggy class was fellow JC driver Garrett McCutchan!

Sending it south we now catch up with team driver Derrick Harris. Recently he visited G3RC Raceway in Bessemer City, NC to compete in their 4th of July trophy event, and he would finish 2nd overall in the Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy class!

Angling our way over to Arkansas we now get our next report from team driver William Ables. He recently went to ELDO RC Raceway in the city of El Dorado to sign up for Round 2 of the ArkLaMiss RC Racing Series. When the round was over he would finish 3rd in Expert 1/8 Electric Buggy along with the TQ and W in the 40+ 1/8 Electric Buggy class! Joining him on the 40+ podium in 3rd place was fellow JC driver Drew Spurgeon!

Moving over to Oklahoma we now stop in at Shaw’s RC Track in Ardmore. This past weekend this facility hosted Round 6 of the Red River Shootout Series, and team driver Brian Rohde would battle the heat and the competition to finish 3rd in Expert 1/8 Electric Buggy along with a 2nd place finish in Expert 1/8 Electric Truggy!

Shooting down to Texas let’s now get a few more updates from the team competing at different tracks. Starting with team driver Brian Henn he let us know that he attended the opening round of the Summer Heatwave Series at Mike’s Gulf Coast RC Raceway in the city of Porter where he grabbed the TQ and win in the 40+ 1/8 Electric Buggy class!

Our next update from the state is from JConcepts pilot Kevin Mcnatt. He recently attended the RC Dirt Nationals held in Lufkin, TX, and he would bump his way in the A Main for SC Mod then go on to take the win!

Next, we head over to New Mexico to the city of White Rock where Overlook Raceway is located. Round 2 of the Tex-Mex Shootout took place there and team driver Tony Hinojosa was firing on all cylinders as he finished 4th in 1/8 Electric Truggy, plus two 2nd place finishes in 1/8 Nitro Truggy and 40+ 1/8 Electric Buggy!

Our final report this week comes to us courtesy of Australian team driver Lachlan Munday. He recently traveled to Chargers RC in Brisbane for the 1/10 RCRA Queensland state titles.

When the racing was in the books he would finish 3rd in Mod 4wd Buggy along with two 2nd place finishes in Mod Stadium Truck and Mod 2wd Buggy!
