Race Team Update – August 2026 Week #3

It was another winning weekend for the JConcepts race team in the month of August. Read about our continued success in this week’s Race Team Update!

We start this week’s report out west in sunny California. This past weekend Rain-Man’s Hobby and Raceway in Bakersfield held the West Coast Dirt Oval Nationals that saw 376 entries!

Team driver James Rodriguez was in attendance and he would finish in the lower mains for the Mod Late Model and 410 Outlaw Sprint classes, while in the EDM class he would finish 4th overall!

Next, we travel back east and stop in at the HobbyTown USA HobbyPlex (The Plex) in Omaha. This past weekend was another round of their Summer Series, and team driver David Peavler reported that he finished 5th in Mod 2wd Buggy along with the TQ & W in the 40+ Mod 2wd Buggy class!

Now we head over to Fastlane Raceway in Blue Springs, MO for our next report. Last weekend was their annual King of Dirt Oval Championship that saw 181 entries! We had many drivers in attendance so let’s see how they finished up starting with team driver Brad Dean. This past weekend Dean was a winning machine as he took the TQs and wins in the Mod Sprint, Mod Late Model and 13.5 Sprint classes!

He was joined on the Mod Sprint podium by fellow JC drivers David Fast (3rd) and Will Brinton (5th)!

Speaking of David he also collected another 3rd place finish in the Mod Late Model class too!

Also competing for the team was JConcepts driver Jeremy Cathlina, and he would finish 9th in Mod Sprint, 4th in Mod Late Model and 2nd overall in 13.5 Sprint!

Staying in Missouri we now visit St. Louis Dirt Burners in Kirkwood. This past weekend they held their Gateway Classic trophy race, and team driver Braden Bruce would collect the TQ in 1/8 Electric Buggy then race on to take the win, plus he picked up a 2nd win in 1/8 Nitro Buggy!

Heading north on I-35 we now visit The RC Compound in Dallas Center, IA. This past weekend they held a trophy event, and it was clean sweep for JC in the Pro 1/8 Nitro Buggy class as team drivers Kaden Fuller (3rd), Mason Fuller (TQ & 1st) and Ashton Abdul (2nd) locked up all the podium spots!

Team driver Mitchell Pavel reported he would secure the final podium spot in the Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy class, and taking the W in this class was fellow JC driver Chad Rubenking!

Heading up I-35 again we now visit Lake Superior R/C Car Club in Proctor, MN. This track was host to Round 4 of the MNRC Series which saw 187 entries! It was also another clean sweep for the JConcepts team in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class as team drivers Kc Belke (2nd), Seth VanDalen (TQ & 1st) and Kyle Holmberg (3rd) filled out the podium!

Kyle would take the win in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class and he was joined on the podium by JC driver Josh Ford in 3rd place! Josh would also collect the win in the 1/8 Nitro Truggy class too!

Heading over to the “Hoosier State” we now visit the Hoosier RC Hobbyplex in New Albany, IN. This past weekend was their 2026 Off-Road Apocalypse trophy event, and team driver Bryson Furnish put in some killer results!

  • Vintage 4wd Buggy = TQ and 2nd place
  • Vintage Stadium Truck – 2nd place
  • 13.5 Stadium Truck = 3rd place
  • 13.5 4wd Buggy = 3rd place
  • 17.5 2wd Buggy = 3rd place
  • Vintage 2wd Buggy = DNF

He also earns our coveted ‘ironman’ award this week for competing in the most classes at a single RC event!

Heading to the coast we now visit Pete’s Pro RC Raceway in Providence, NC. This track was host to Round 4 of the King of the Carolina’s RC Series, and team driver Derrick Harris would finish 2nd overall in the 1/8 Electric Buggy and Truggy classes!

Our final report this week comes to us courtesy of team driver Mason Montminy. This past weekend he went to Bego Raceway in Mirabel, QC, Canada to compete in the 2026 Quebec Classic. When the event was over he would finish 8th in 1/8 Nitro Buggy, 6th in 1/8 Electric Buggy along with two 4th place finishes in 1/8 Nitro and Electric Truggy!
