The fourth weekend of October is in the books and it looks like there is no slowing down for the the JConcepts race team as you can read below in this edition of the Race Team Update!
Let’s start off this week’s report out west in Sacramento, CA at LSR Speedway for their Wicked Halloween Race. We had numerous drivers in attendance so let’s get a quick update from the team.
Team driver Kyle Layton took the TQ and win in the Mod 2wd Buggy class while performing on Silver compound Ellipses!
Team mate Doug Lariviere doubled up on the podium as well with a double TQ and win in the Expert 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes! He used Silver compound Ellipses and Dirt Webs on all of his cars.
JC driver Joseph Levin also competed in three classes and had some great results. In the 13.5 Stadium Truck class he would finish 3rd in the main! In the Expert 13.5 4wd Buggy class he would also take 3rd! And in the 17.5 Expert 2wd Buggy class he qualified 3rd and would just miss out on his third podium of the weekend!
Now let’s head to the border for our next update. Specifically, the New Mexico and Texas border where we check in with team drivers Tony and Diego Hinojosa. On October 16-18th they went to compete at the 5th round of the Border Wars R/C Racing Series at Raceparty.net in El Paso, TX. In the 1/8 Expert Nitro Truggy class Tony would finish 6th for the day and in the 1/8 Expert Electric Truggy class he would take the win! His son Diego would also take home hardware with a 2nd place finish in the 1/8 Sportsman Electric Truggy class too!
Staying in Texas let’s now go to Irving to check in with the team at Wild Bill’s Raceway who hosted Round 3 of the RC Pro Series with 90+ entries. We had several drivers competing so let’s see how they did starting with driver Nathan Dean. He says the track crew did a great job getting the race surface prepped due to the rains the night before and our tires were a huge advantage on the competition as we made several podiums! Dean would finish 2nd in Midwest Mod and take the win in Outlaw Sprint while running on Green compound Dirt Web in the front and Green compound Ellipses in the rear!
Joining him on the podium in both classes was team mate Robert Chapman! He used the same tire setup and finished 3rd in Midwest Mod and took the TQ and 2nd place in Outlaw Sprint.
JC driver Noel Cerda took the TQ and win in the Wingless Sprint class while running on Green compound Ellipses on all four corners along with 9 Shot wheels!
JConcepts driver Kevin Lenderman also competed in two classes and took 3rd place in Street Stock and took the W in the SC Mod class! Both cars also performed fast on Green compound Ellipses.
Now let’s head up to Little Rock, AR to Alison RC Off-Road Raceway. Sadly, this was the last race at this venue as it was set to close afterwards, but team driver Drew Spurgeon made sure to go out on top as he took the double TQ and win in the the 1/8 Nitro Buggy and Electric Truggy classes! He said he used Blue compound Remix tires on his buggy and Green compound Triple Dees on his truggy as well as S15 and Silencer bodies.
Now let’s go to Missouri to check on the team as the Trigger King R/C Monster Truck Series wrapped up for 2020. JC driver Danny Maass captured the Outlaw Retro title while competing with a 1982 GMC K2500 body, Tribute wheels, Golden Year tires, and custom painted Tribute beadlock rings!
Team mate Daniel Agosh finished 10th in Freestyle while competing with a 2014 Chevy 1500 MT Single Cab body, Blue compound Renegade tires, Tribute wheels and Mock Beadlock Rings.
JC driver Chris Tolbert took home the Pro Modified title too!
JC mate Josh Rhodes missed two races earlier in the series but roared back to take three bracket wins later on as he clawed his way up to a 7th place finish in the season points for the Outlaw Retro Racing class! His rig was equipped with the Regulator chassis conversion kit and Servo Mount Kit, Tribute wheels, Golden Years tires and a Bigfoot IV inspired 1989 Ford F-250 body.
He also finished in 3rd place in the Sport Mod class while performing with a 1993 Ford F-250 Monster Truck body, Tribute wheels and Renegade tires!
Now let’s move into Iowa to visit Island Speedway in Muscatine. When he is not racing full scale short-course off-road vehicles, Monster Energy sponsored pro driver CJ Greaves like to wheel some RC vehicles too.
He is also sponsored by JConcepts and he doesn’t race RC cars as often as full scale vehicles, but when he does he can still wheel it as he captured three TQ and wins! He said he was running fast on Silver compound Ellipses and Dirt Webs.
Moving up to Michigan, let’s check in with team driver Jeff Todd who competed at the season opener for Washtenaw RC Raceway in Saline. He raced in both the 17.5 2wd Buggy and Mod SCT classes and made the mains for both! His rides were decked out in a plethora of JC products:

Heading south into Indiana let’s check in with team driver Tyler Jones. He recently competed at the first nitro series event at RC Fun Park and Hobbies in Granger and reports that he took the TQ and win in 1/8 Nitro Buggy while running on JConcepts Green compound Reflex tires!
Heading out east into Maine let’s check in with team driver John Cravotta. He was recently in York at Maximus R/C Raceway for a race event and took two wins in the 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes! The track also ran a 8 week points series and he finished 1st overall in 13.5 4wd and 2nd in Open 2wd Buggy!
Now let’s travel down the coast into South Carolina and stop in Easley for the Clean Freak/ Halloween Havoc race at The Hobby Connection. There we find JC driver Logan Cowick who reports he swept the 1/8 Pro Nitro and Electric Buggy classes! He used a Silencer body, F2I wing, Bullet wheels and Green compound Ellipses on his buggy and a S15 body, Bullet wheels and Green compound Ellipses on his nitro ride.
Now let’s go to Helena, AL to check in with team driver Danny Smith. He recently attended the 1st Annual ‘Halloween Hootenanny & Nitro Nightmare’ at Warehouse Hobby Raceway. He qualified 3rd in 1/8 Nitro Buggy and finished 2nd in the 30min main while running on Blue compound Detox tires! In E Buggy he took the TQ and win while running strong on Green compound Reflex tires!
Heading further south into Florida, there we find JC driver Tony Rivas who raced at High Fly Hobbies in South Daytona. He said he set the TQ in the 1/8 Pro Electric Buggy class and finished 2nd overall while running on Green compound Stalkers!
Now let’s check in with our international team starting with team driver Alberto Garcia. He reports he finished in 8th place 1/8 Off-Road Spain Championship at Redovan track.
For the mains he said he used 02 compound Blockers.
Finally, JC driver Clément Boda took the TQ and win in Mod 2wd Buggy at BCI Charleroi in Lodelinsart, Belgium! His winning ride used the following JC goodies:
