The second week of racing for August is in the books! The JConcepts race team stays red hot out on the track which you can read all about in this sizzling edition of the Race Team Update!
We start this week’s race report down in sweet home Alabama in the city of Huntsville. This is where RC3 (Rocket City Radio Controlled Race Club) is located and they just held their 12th Annual Rocket City Challenge that saw over 250 entries! The JConcepts team was out in full force at this race so let’s get some updates from the team starting with team driver Chris Rakus.
He reports that took the win in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class while running on Aqua compound Reflex tires!
His teammate Izriah Osborne reported that he finished 3rd in both the 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes! Both bugs used the Aqua compound Reflex tires too.
JC driver Blake Boggs let us know that he set the TQ in both the 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes! He would go one to finish 4th in e buggy and took the W in nitro buggy. His nitro rig used R2 compound Triple Dees while his e buggy rocked Aqua compound Reflexes.
JC mate Drew Williams said he competed in four separate classes with great results!
- 1/8 Nitro Buggy = 4th while running a mix of Blue and R2 compound Triple Dee tires
- 1/8 Electric Buggy = 5th while running a mix of Blue and R2 compound Triple Dee tires
- 1/8 Nitro Truggy = 2nd while R2 compound Triple Dee tires
- 1/8 Electric Truggy = TQ and 1st while R2 compound Triple Dee tires
JConcepts driver Danny Smith reported that he competed in both the 1/8 Nitro Buggy and Truggy classes for this event. He just missed the bump into the A-main in buggy and finished 3rd overall in truggy! His buggy utilized our Green compound Detox tires while his truggy used Aqua compound Reflexes.
Team driver Bryce Taets reported that he also raced in the 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes at this event. He wasn’t able to bump out of the B main in e buggy but made the big show in nitro buggy and moved all the way up to 7th! Aiding him that day were Blue compound Teazers.
Now we move up the east coast to Thunder Alley RC in Lucama, NC for our next update.
Our driver Josh Parrish recently attended Round 2 of the ROS Series and took the double TQ and win in the 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd classes! His 2wd used an F2 body, Mono wheels, and Green compound Octagons while his wheeler ran on Mono wheels mounted to Aqua compound Ellipses ground down to slicks.
Moving north into Richmond, VA let’s check on the team competing at the 2021 Solid Axle Showdown.
Starting with team driver Matt Stoltz he reports that he took two wins in both the Retro and Mega truck classes! In fact in the Retro class all three of his trucks swept the podium!
His 1st place Flashback monster truck was equipped with the following gear:

Also competing at this event was teammate Sonny Santucci who put in some solid results!
- 3rd place in the 2.2 class
- 3rd place in the Mega Mud Truck class
- TQ and 1st in the Losi LMT Spec class
- 3rd place in the Promod class
- 1st in the Freestyle competition
At this event, he ran Gold compound Renegade and Fling King tires and he also earns our coveted “ironman” award for this week!
Now we fly west and splash down at M40 RC Raceway in Gobles, MI. Team driver Kyle Munson recently ran there for Round 4 of their Summer Points series and competed in four separate classes and took the W in all of them!
- 17.5 2wd Buggy = 1st
- Vintage Buggy = TQ and 1st
- Mod Stadium Truck = TQ and 1st
- 1/8 Electric Buggy = 1st
He used a variety of JC goodies like an F2 buggy body, a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing, Finnisher truck body and various tires like the Magma, Groovy, Carvers, and Chasers.
Heading to the “Land of Lincoln” we get our next update from team driver Brayden Billington. He recently went to RJD Hobbies in the town of Lincoln to compete in their Midwest meltdown event. He would finish 3rd in Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy and took the win in 1/8 Electric Truggy! Both vehicles used Aqua compound Reflex tires.
Also racing at this event was teammate Charles Day. He too competed in the Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy class and would finish 2nd overall! During qualifying and the A-main he used different JC tires like Blue compound Kosmos and Stalkers.
Crossing the Mississippi River we stop in at Fort Dodge, IA where IORC is located. This past weekend was Round 3 of their Summer Series and team driver Brandon Kearney reported that he competed in Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy along with Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy. He would go on to TQ all 3 classes and finish 2nd in 17.5 buggy and took wins in the mod classes! Both winning cars used lightweight F2 shells along with Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wings and Fuzz Bite tires on all four corners.
Now we cross the Missouri River and stop in at Omaha, NE where the HobbyTown USA HobbyPlex (The Plex) is located.
This past weekend was the finals for their Summer Truck Series and JC driver Will Brinton reported that he finished 1st overall in the Gas Truck class! He used Gold compound Ellipses tires in both the front and rear along with an F2 body.
Heading southeast into Blue Springs, MO we get our next update from team driver Travis Slover. This past weekend he went to Fastlane Raceway for Round 4 of their Summer Off-Road Points Series and finished 1st in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class! His e buggy used our Blue compound Reflex tires.
Now let’s travel to Spring Creek RC in Waukomis, OK to see how the team performed at the 5th Annual Classic at the Creek trophy race.
Starting with JC driver Heath Lawson he reported that he finished 5th overall in the Late Model class and took home some cash too! He ran Blue compound Ellipse tires on all four corners to start with but once the track grooved up he switched over to the Gold compound. He also ran the L8D Decked Late Model body and various other JC widgets.
JC mate Robert Chapman also competed at this race and finished 6th in 410 Sprint and 5th in Midwest Modified! Both cars ran a combination of Gold compound Dirt Webs and Ellipses tires.
Team driver Tyler Keel had a big night as he picked up the win, and a $400 check, in the 410 Sprint class after battling 50 laps with teammate Nathan Dean! He also finished 3rd overall in Midwest Mod and he ran Gold compound Dirt Webs and Ellipses tires for the mains.
Speaking of Nathan, he reports that he finished 2nd in the 410 Sprint class and took home wins in both the Late Model and Midwest Modified classes! He also switched over to Gold compound Dirt Webs and Ellipses tires for the mains plus brought home $800 in winnings too!
Next, let’s shoot down to Abilene, TX where 4way Speedway is located. Our driver Kevin Lenderman competed there recently for Round 4 of the South Dirt Oval RC Pro Series and competed in the SC Modified and Midwest Modified classes. He would finish 3rd in the Midwest class and took the TQ and win in the SC Mod class! His Midwest car used Green compound Dirt Webs in the front and Ellipses in the rear and they were both mounted to white Mono wheels. His SC Mod car used Green compound Sprinter tires mounted to black Hazzard wheels.
Now we fly out west to Rescue, CA to get an update from team driver Jeremy Bunting. He just competed at Round 4 of the Nor Cal RC Monster Truck Points Series at the Rescue Community Center RC Track.
In racing, he would 2nd overall and in the 2.6 Monster Truck class, he finished 3rd and still remains the season points leader! His “Sinistar” monster truck ran fast on Renegade Blue compound tires, Tribute wheels, and a 2005 Ford F-250 Super Duty MT body. He also made it to the semi-finals in the 2.2 class and remains the point leader for this class too! His “Hooligan” truck ran on Renegade Jr. tires, Midwest wheels, and a 2014 Chevy 1500 Single Cab body. And in the Retro class, he also made the semi-finals with his “Shotgun” rig running on a Regulator chassis with BTA steering, Golden Year tires, Tribute wheels, a 27T Silent Speed motor, and a 1989 F250 body.
Our final report comes to us from Denmark team driver Jesper Rasmussen. He raced at Round 5 of the Danish Championship at Heden RC and took the double TQ and win in the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes! He used an S2 body on the 4wd, a P2K body on the 2wd, plus Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wings.
