We are in a new month, and the JConcepts race team continues to collect wins around the globe! Read all about it in this week’s Race Team Update!
We start this week’s report at N Control Raceway in Dale, TX. The team recently competed there at the 2022 WFO for Wilcox Memorial race.
Team driver Cody Babbitt reports that he set the TQ and finished 2nd in the Midwest Modified class while running on Ellipses! In the SC Mod class he bumped into the A Main after some rough qualifying and would move up to 2nd place!
His teammate Kevin Lenderman also competed at this event in three different classes and podiumed in two of them!
- 3rd in Midwest Modified while running on Mono wheels with Silver compound Dirt Web in the front and Ellipses in the rear
- 3rd in SC Mod while running Green compound Sprinters on Hazard wheels
- 8th in Open Sprint while running on Mono wheels with Silver compound Dirt Web in the front and Ellipses in the rear
Team driver Kevin Mcnatt reported that on Friday night he took the win in the SC Mod class while running on Green compound Sprinters on the left hand side, Blue compound Sprinters on the right hand side and all on 9-Shot wheels! On Saturday he would start 2nd for the A Main in this class but would break out to end up 8th while running the same tire setup.
Now we make our way north to 405 RC Raceway & Hobbies in Oklahoma City, OK. Team driver Rhett McNair recently raced there at the 20th annual Bigfoot Off-Road Extravaganza. He competed in the Mod 2wd Buggy class and took the W while using Fuzz Bites mounted to Mono wheels on all four corners! He also used a S2 shell and a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing.
Continuing north out next stop is in Omaha, NE where the HobbyTown USA HobbyPlex (The Plex) is located. This past weekend was Round 2 of their Summer Series which saw over 200 entries! Team driver Ethan Delair competed in both the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes and he finished 5th in wheeler and took the win in 2wd! Both buggies used a F2 body, a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 6.5″ Rear Wing and Gold compound Ellipses in the front and rear on his wheeler, but only on the rear for this 2wd car. On his 2wd car he used Gold compound Dirt Webs up front, and joining him on the podium were JC drivers Alex Vanderbeek (2nd) and Drew Rubenking (3rd) to complete the JConcepts podium sweep!
Fellow JC driver Riley Filbert competed in the Mod and Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy classes. In Mod 2wd he finished in 5th place and in Expert 17.5 he set the TQ and took the tone to tone win! Both cars used Gold compound Dirt Webs up front, Ellipses in the rear, an Aero S-Type 7″ Rear Wing, Mono wheels and a F2 body.
Joining him on the 17.5 2wd Buggy podium in 3rd place was fellow JC driver Emerson Sturgeon! He used Gold compound Ellipses on all four corners, and he also finished 5th for the day in 13.5 Stadium Truck on Silver compound Ellipses in the front and rear.
Team driver Mason Herrick competed in both the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes. In Mod 2wd he would just miss out on the podium as he finished 4th for the round, but in the Mod 4wd class he would lock up the final podium spot! He also used Gold compound Dirt Webs up front on his 2wd with Gold compound Ellipses in the rear, plus Gold compound Ellipses in the front and rear on his 4wd car. He also used a F2 body, a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 6.5″ Rear Wing, and joining him on the Mod 4wd Buggy podium in 1st was his JC teammate Alex!
Team driver, and race director, Alex Sturgeon also threw down some laps at this latest round of their Summer Series. He would TQ and finish 2nd in 13.5 4wd Buggy, and also take the TQ and win in the 40+ Mod 2wd Buggy class! His winning 2wd car used Gold compound Dirt Webs up front with Gold compound Ellipses in the rear.
Heading even further north we stop in at MMR3 in Minneapolis, MN. This past weekend they held their June Jamm Off-Road State Championships so let’s see how the team finished starting with JConcepts driver Thor Ott. He competed in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class, and he would set the TQ and take the win while running fast on Fuzz Bite tires glued to Mono rims!
Also competing at this event was fellow JC pilot Christopher Malooly. He also competed in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class and would finish 5th, and in the 13.5 4wd Buggy class he would finish 4th for the event! Both of his vehicles used Fuzz Bite rubber.
Crossing the state line into Wisconsin let’s get a few updates from the team competing at various tracks throughout the state. Starting with team driver Kyle Holmberg he let us know that over the weekend he attended the 2nd points race at Rick’s Hobby Farm in New Richmond. He would take the TQ and win in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class while using Blue compound Blockers and a S15 shell!
Heading to New Franken where Dirt Heaven Hobby and Raceway is located let’s see how the team performed at Round 2 of their Summer Series. Starting with team driver Ryan Derenne he finished 7th in the 1/8 Electric Truggy class and 3rd in Stadium Truck! His e truggy used Green compound Reflex tires mounted to Bullet wheels, while his stadium truck used Green compound Carvers in the front, Sprinters in the rear and topped off with a Finnisher body.
Also racing at this event was his teammate Andy Krivitz. He competed in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class and would finish 2nd for the day while racing on Aqua compound Reflex tires and a S15 body!
Heading out east our next stop is in the state of Pennsylvania where we had the team competing at a few different tracks. Starting with team driver Matt Morris he let us know that over the weekend he went to FSARC Raceway in Altoona to compete at their RC Dash For Cash event. He competed in three classes and set the TQ in all of them plus snagged a pair of wins!
- 17.5 2wd Buggy = TQ and 1st while running fast on Green and Blue compound Ellipse tires mounted to Mono wheels
- 1/8 Electric Buggy = TQ and 4th while running fast on Green and Blue compound Reflex tires mounted to Bullet wheels
- 1/8 Electric Truggy = TQ and 1st while running fast on Blue compound Reflex and Ellipses tires mounted to Bullet wheels
Moving on to GSRC in Shippensburg this past weekend they held a warm-up race for the upcoming ROAR Electric Off-Road 1/8th Scale & 4wd SCT Nationals in July. Team drivers Aydan and Dylan Manchanda both competed in the Jr. 1/8 Electric Buggy class, and Aydan would TQ and win with his brother Dylan right behind him in 2nd place! Both drivers used Blue compound Blockers and F2I wings.
Heading southeast we catch up with team driver Bella Rogers who recently visited ACCEL RC in Gay, WV for their Summer Shootout event.
She competed in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class and took the win while using Green compound Teazers and a S15 shell!
Heading even further southeast we check in with team driver Will Scott who recently competed at RC3 in Huntsville, AL. This past weekend they were host to Round 1 of the point series between two RC clubs, SHARC and RC3, and he competed in the Mod 4wd Buggy, Stadium Truck and Spec Slash classes. In both the Mod 4wd and Stadium Truck classes he would finish 2nd overall and he took the TQ and win Spec Slash! His wheeler used Sprinters in both the front and rear, while his stadium truck used Carvers in the front and Goosebumps in the rear.
Now let’s get some updates from out international team starting with team driver Clément Boda. This past weekend he competed at Round 4 of the French Nationals held near Strasbourg. He would finish 2nd in Mod 2wd Buggy and took the TQ and win in Mod 4wd Buggy! He is currently leading the points in the 2wd class, and with the win in 4wd he is now the French Champion for 2022! Both cars used F2 bodies, Mono wheels and Fin Titanium Turnbuckles!
Heading to Australia let’s see how the team performed at Round 1 of the NSW (New South Wales) Driver Series. Team driver Lachlan Donnelly competed in both the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes and took the TQ and win in both! His winning rides used lightweight P2 and F2 bodies, an Aero S-Type 7″ Rear Wing, an Aero S-Type 6.5″ Rear Wing and Aero S-Type Rear Wing Center Dividers.
Our final report comes to us from team driver Jarod Ment who also competed at Round 1 of the NSW. He would finish 3rd overall in both the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes while using P2 and F2 bodies, Mono wheels and Aero S-Type 7″ Rear Wings!
