In this edition of the JConcepts Friday5 we talk to Canada team driver, Guillaume Tremblay!
1. When and how did you get started in RC? And what class do you compete in or did you primarily bash your vehicles?
I started off-road 4 years ago with the help of Eric Deschenes and my father Yves. I started in 2wd with the Team Associated B6.
2. What is your favorite class to race in today and why?
My favorite class is 2wd buggy because it is a class which must have a lot of precision and it’s very difficult to go fast on the track because the cars have less traction than other classes.
3. On many indoor dirt off-road tracks it seems like the hot ticket is to run slicks. Do you prefer slightly treaded tires or slicks? And why do you think things have moved this way?
The slick tires are much better because the traction is higher which makes the cars faster whatever the class is. You can make either Ellipse or Dirt Webs into slicks and you will be fast on the track and comfortable also with the car. We can run slicks on several tracks because the track owners arrange to have a compact soil and with less dust on the surfaces which makes the choice of tire less difficult for all around the world.
4. In your opinion, when heading to the track what is the JConcepts product that is a must have on race day and why?
The tools that I mainly use are the ride height and the camber gauges.
5. Besides RC cars, what other hobbies are you into?
Apart from RC I like fishing and nature and I play Dek Hockey too.
