Race Team Update – August 2021 Week #4

The JConcepts race team puts in another solid week of racing around the globe which you can read for yourself in this week’s Race Team Update!

We start this week’s report up in Napierville, QC, Canada where Bego Racing RC Raceway is located. This past weekend they held the 2021 Quebec Classic which nearly 350 entries with seven different classes to compete in!

JConcepts was well represented as this event as you can see in the above image, so let’s check out some of the team’s results.

Starting with team driver Damian Lamy he reports that he competed in the 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes. He would finish 2nd in nitro buggy and won both A mains in e buggy to take the overall win! His fast cars both ran on Aqua compound Detox tires and joining him on the podium were teammates David L’Ecuyer (4th) and Dylan Raposo (5th)!

Speaking of David, he reported that he also competed in 4 classes in total at this event!

  • 35+ 1/8 Electric Buggy = TQ and 1st
  • 35+ 1/8 Nitro Buggy = 14th (DNF)
  • 1/8 Electric Buggy = 4th
  • 1/8 Nitro Buggy = 8th

He also ran Aqua compound Detox tires along with S15 bodies and he also earns this week’s ‘ironman’ award for competing in 4 classes!

Team driver Steve Seguin reported that he competed in 3 classes: 35+ 1/8 Electric Buggy, 1/8 Electric Buggy and 1/8 Electric Truggy. In 35+ e buggy he would finish 7th after both mains, 14th in e buggy and 4th place in e truggy! His fast rides all rolled out on Aqua compound Ellipse tires and joining him on the 1/8 Electric Truggy podium in 1st place was JC mate Brian Ross!

Brian also let us know that he competed in the 1/8 Electric and Mod 4wd Buggy classes too. Along with his TQ and win in 1/8 Electric Truggy, he also finished 6th in 1/8 Electric Buggy and 2nd in Mod wheeler! On his e buggy he ran Detox tires in the Aqua compound, Ellipses in the same compound on his truggy and Blue compound Sprinters on his wheeler.

Teammate Guillaume Tremblay reported that he finished 6th in 1/8 Nitro Buggy while running a S15 body and Aqua compound Detox tires, and also took the TQ and W in Mod 4wd Buggy while rocking a S2 shell and Blue compound Sprinters on all four corners!

JC driver Eric Deschenes competed in three classes at this race. He finished 13th in 1/8 Nitro Truggy, 5th in 1/8 Nitro Buggy and 2nd place in 35+ 1/8 Nitro Buggy! His truggy used a Finnisher body while his both bugs used a Silencer body, and all vehicles were equipped with Aqua compound Detox tires. Joining him on the 1/8 Nitro Buggy podium was teammate Damian Lamy in 2nd!

JConcepts driver Xavier Belanger reports that he competed in both 1/8 buggy classes and would finish 11th in Electric Buggy and 9th place in Nitro Buggy! Both cars used Detox tires in the Aqua compound.

Next, we cross the border into Minnesota to stop in at the Lake Superior RC Club in Proctor. They were host to Round 4 of the MNRC Off-Road Racing Series this past weekend and team driver Joe Scaramell reported that he competed in both 1/8 Nitro Truggy and 40+ 1/8 Nitro Buggy. In truggy he would finish 7th for the event and in 40+ he would take the TQ and win! His truggy used Aqua compound Reflex tires for the main, but during qualifying he opted for the same tire in the Blue compound. In 40+ he qualified while running Blue compound Reflex tires and switched over to R2 compound Rehabs for the main.

Now we head east to New Franken, WI where Dirt Heaven Hobby and Raceway is located. This past weekend they held their 20th annual Corn Roast Race which was a combination of dirt oval and off-road racing. All together they saw over 215 entries plus a few rainbows after the rain showers cleared up. Let’s see how the team performed starting with team driver Ryan Derenne.

He let us know that he competed in 3 classes with great results!

  • 40+ 17.5 2wd Buggy = 2nd place while running on sanded Silver compound Ellipse slicks and a P2 body
  • Mod 4wd Buggy = 3rd place while running on sanded Silver compound Ellipse slicks and a S2 body
  • Mod Stadium Truck = 4th place while running on Blue compound Carvers up front, Green compound Goosebumps in the rear, plus a Finnisher body

Also competing at this event was JC driver Richie Peters. In the Dirt Oval part of the event he would set the TQ and take the win in the 13.5 Sprint Car class! He ran Green compound Sprinters mounted to 9 Shot wheels. On the inside off-road track he would take another TQ and win in 17.5 2wd Buggy! That winning ride used Silver compound Dirt Webs up front, Ellipses in the rear and both tires were sanded to slicks. And on the outside off-road track he would just miss the final podium spot when he finished 4th in 1/8 Electric Buggy while competing with Green compound Kosmos tires!

Dipping down to the ‘Land of Lincoln’ we mosey on into the town of Monticello where M3 Raceway is located. They were the host to the 2021 Horizon Hobby 1/8 Summer Fest and our driver Brayden Billington was there competing in three different classes and made the podium in all of them!

  • 1/8 Electric Buggy = 1st while running Green compound Stalkers
  • 1/8 Nitro Buggy = 2nd while running Green compound Stalkers
  • 1/8 Electric Truggy = 3rd while running Green compound Triple Dees

Also competing at this event was JConcepts teammate Nick Malato in 1/8 Electric Truggy. He would finish 2nd overall to join Brayden on the podium while running Blue compound Reflex tires!

Heading south into Yukon, OK we make our way to Taylor Park to get this update from team driver Heath Lawson. He was in attendance competing at the Sprint Car Shootout and set the TQ in the Wingless Sprint class! The weather would take a turn for the worse later on and the mains got rained out, so based on qualifying position he would also take the win! He ran on Green compound Ellipses in the rear with Dirt Webs in the same compound up front.

Shooting down to Texas our next update comes from team driver Brian Henn. He recently competed in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class at Thornhill Racing Circuit in Hutto for Round 6 of their Championship Series. After the AA mains were ran he would finish 6th for the event while running on Blue compound Detox tires and a S15 body!

Our next stop is LCRC Raceway in Oakland Mills, PA for the 2021 Mugen Challenge. Let’s get some updates from the team competing there starting with team driver Tom Petrella.

He reports that he raced in the 40+ 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes and would finish 4th in nitro and 3rd in e buggy! His cars used S15 bodies and Green compound Reflex tires.

Also competing at this race was JC driver Cody Saner. He competed in both 1/8 Nitro and Electric Truggy classes and would finish 3rd in the A main for nitro truggy while running on Blue compound Reflex tires! And in e truggy he would finish 7th while using our A2 compound Reflex tires! Joining him on the podium were teammates Bryan Kata (1st) and Adam Drake (TQ)!

Teammate Matt Adams competed in three different classes for this event. He finished 28th in 1/8 Electric Truggy, 14th in Intermediate 1/8 Electric Buggy and he took the TQ and win in Mod 2wd SCT! His vehicles used the following JC goodies:

  • F2I wing

We now fly out west to Patterson, CA for this next report from team driver Jeremy Bunting. He recently went to Frank Raines OHV Park to attend the Monster Truck Showdown and won in both the 2.2 Class and Freestyle competition!

His winning ‘Hooligan’ truck used a 2014 Chevy 1500 Single Cab body along with Renegade Jr. 2.2 tires mounted to Midwest wheels.

Our final report comes from down under by team driver Aaron Dexter. He recently made the 750km trip to Kalgoorlie for the 2021 Western Australia State Titles last weekend. The trip was well worth it as he would go on to take the double win in the 1/8 Electric and Nitro Buggy classes!

His winning buggies both used Silencer shells along with Green compound Reflex, Kosmos and Stalkers during the event.
