Friday5 With Team Driver Brannon Beauchamp

In this edition of the JConcepts Friday5 we talk to Washington team driver, Brannon Beauchamp!

1. How did you first hear about racing RC cars? And what classes did you compete in?

My first experience with RC cars was when I was a kid. I got to watch my father build and race a Tamiya Frog. I bought and built a replica a few years back. The classes I run are 2wd modified buggy, 2wd short course, and 1:8 nitro and electric buggy.

2. What is your favorite class to race in today and why?

It would be a toss up between 1:8 buggy and short course. I have had so many fun battles in short course. The full body and a little bit of “rubbing is racing” always makes for some entertaining laps. On the flip side, the big 1:8 cars, big tracks, and monster air time, is super fun as well.

3. From your experience what is the easiest AND hardest maintenance task on your RC cars?

A full tear down of my nitro buggy is the hardest part of maintaining my cars. Just for the amount of time and all the different thing that need to be done in order to get it all prepared. The easiest maintenance is cleaning my cars for those good podium pictures.

4. In your opinion, when heading to the track what is the JConcepts product that is a must have on race day and why?

I need all the JCon products when headed to the track. From camber and ride height gauges to wheels, tires, wings, and glue. Our success on the track relies on the full arsenal of JCon products.

5. Besides RC cars, what other hobbies are you into?

With all the racing we do, there’s not much room for other hobbies. I enjoy spending time with my family and dogs, wrenching on and tuning BMWs, and putting in time on a driving simulator to keep the hand/eye coordination fine tuned.
