Race Team Update – January 2023 Week #2

The second weekend of racing for 2023 is now complete, and the JConcepts team keeps on winning which you can read about in this week’s Race Team Update!

We start this week’s report down at Speegleville Speedway which right outside of the city of Waco, TX.

Team driver Billy DiCorte Jr. recently competed there on a fresh layout and took the TQ and win in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class!

Our next stop is in Tulsa, OK for the world famous RC Chili Bowl. This annual event keep growing in popularity each year, and this year’s race brought in over 550 entries! Let’s see how the team finished up starting with JC driver Kevin Mcnatt.

He competed in the SC Mod class and would finish 18th out of 50 entries for the week long event!

Team driver Noel Cerda took 6th place in the SC Mod class at this event too!

Teammate Shane Wheeler just missed the transfer spot for the Master Sprint class as he put in fast laps all week long!

Team driver Justin Driemeier competed in the Midwest Modified class and after a week of competing he would set the TQ and take the feature win!

Moving north we now stop in at Omaha, NE where the HobbyTown USA HobbyPlex (The Plex) is located. This past weekend they held another round of their Winter Nitro Series that saw 226 entries! Leading the charge for the team was JC driver Seth VanDalen.

He competed in the Expert 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes and would set the TQ and take the win in both! Joining him on the e buggy podium in 2nd place was his teammate Drew Rubenking!

JConcepts driver Mason Herrick would just miss out on the final podium spot in the Expert 1/8 Nitro class, but he locked up 3rd place in the e buggy class!

Team driver Brandon Kearney competed in three different classes at this most recent round. He would finish 5th for the day in Expert 1/8 Electric Buggy, 2nd in 1/8 Electric Truggy and took the W in the 1/8 Nitro Truggy class!

Team driver Shane Alberico also attended this most recent round and competed in the Expert 1/8 Buggy class were he would finished a solid 6th place!

Making our way even further north we check in with team driver Richie Peters who recently competed at the Fall Point Series finals for Dirt Heaven Hobby & Raceway in New Franken, WI.

In the 17.5 2wd Buggy class he locked in the TQ out of 19 cars & went on the take the win in the A Main! This also wrapped up the series title in this class too! In Mod 2wd Buggy he would set the TQ in this class as well, then go out and secure his 2nd win for the weekend!

Moving south to the “Land of Lincoln” we meet with up with JC driver Cody Meiferdt. He visited the city of Decatur to check out a new track called the The RC Shack.

They held their first point series race and he would bump his way into the 17.5 2wd Buggy A Main and go on to take the win!

Bouncing over to the “Hoosier State let’s get our next update from team driver Justin Green. This past Saturday he visited a new track called Maxsel RC in the city of Muncie. He entered into the 1/8 Electric Buggy class, and he would go out to TQ all rounds of qualifying and take the win in the main event!

Kicking it down to Kentucky let’s head to the city of Middlesboro where RC Arena is located. There we find team driver Aaron Buran who recently competed there for their New Year’s Race. He competed in two classes and would wrap up the day with a 6th place finish in Pro 1/8 Nitro Buggy and 3rd overall in Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy!

Making a diagonal we now meet up with team driver Aydan Manchanda. This past weekend he competed at the the Pop’s Memorial Trophy Race held at DRP in Old Forge, PA. He competed in three different classes and would finish 3rd in 13.5 4wd Buggy, 2nd in Mod 4wd Buggy and set the TQ and finished 2nd in Stadium Truck!

Continuing to the northeast we stop in Traction Action RC Raceway in Plainville, NY. They recently held their 2023 Manufacturer’s Cup which brought in over 100 entries! Team driver Andrew Bishop raced at this event and would set the TQ and take the win in both the 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes!

Also competing at this race was his tire teammate Tom Bishop. He also competed in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class and secured 8th place!

Moving east to Massachusetts we catch up with team driver Matt Perault who recently competed at the 18th annual Snowball event held at RC Excitement in the city of Fitchburg. He competed in both the 17.5 and 40+ Mod 2wd Buggy classes, and he would set the TQ in 40+ and finish 2nd overall in both of them!

Crossing the stateline we head to RC Madness located in Enfield, CT.

Team driver Eric Bresnahan recently went there to compete in their January Jam event, and finished 13th overall in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class!

Now let’s get a few updates from our International team starting with Australian driver Lachlan Donnelly. Normally an off-road racer he recently did some 1/12 on-road racing in the Smokem Racing Summer Slam in Castle Hill, NSW, Australia. He would set the TQ and take the overall win after the AAA mains were ran!

Staying down under let’s get our next report from team driver Darren Johnston. He recently competed on the blue “smurf turf” for the Belmont cup held by the Belmont Radio Controlled Car club in Perth, Western Australia.

He would sign up for the Mod 4wd class and would finish 2nd overall after competing in the AAA mains!

Our final report this week comes to us courtesy of team driver Robert Sorjonen. He went to his local carpet off-road track called Outlaw RC in Vancouver, Canada to compete in the 13.5 4wd Buggy class and would finish in 3rd place!
