Friday5 With Team Driver Adam Drake

In this edition of the JConcepts Friday5 we talk to California team driver, Adam Drake!

When did you get your start in RC racing? Did you bash cars at first or jumped right into the racing scene?

I had basher / hobby grade cars at an early age and started racing in 1991 in Savannah, GA at Phil Hurd Raceway (S.C.O.R.E.).

Now that we are in 2023, looking back again at your first two years racing for JConcepts what part of the team process either impressed you the most, or possibly surprised you after you started working with the team more?

This will be my third year racing for JConcepts and it’s been amazing! The team works well together to make sure we use the best combination for the different track conditions throughout events, and the social media presence at events is unreal.

Over the years the technology in RC has made great leaps and bounds. Looking back what would you say is the number one advancement to date and why?

The amount of information that’s available because of social media, YouTube, and direct e-mail is pretty awesome, and it allows racers to get answers a lot quicker then the early days in RC. Everyone is more connected and information is easy to access for help and setup advise.

JConcepts is well known for its tires and bodies, but in your opinion what JConcepts tool or accessory is a must have on race day that other drivers might overlook?

It would be difficult to pick just one tool or accessory from JConcepts that is a must have on race days. The tuning options between the JConcepts F2I and Razor wings, Aluminum | Carbon Setup Board, Advanced Formulated Tire Glue, Radial Bearings, and Metal Car Stand are a few of my favorites.

Name one thing people might be surprised to know about you.

I was born in Michigan and moved to South Carolina when I was 9 years old, then moved back to Michigan after high school before moving to California in 2000.
