In this edition of the JConcepts Friday5 we talk to Indiana team driver, Talon Henley!
1. When and how did you get started in RC? And what class do you compete in or did you primarily bash your vehicles?
I’ve had a car in my hands since I was 10 and bashed an old T4 my dad gave me for Christmas. After that a B5M that got raced at a local track.
2. As a new driver for JConcepts in 2023, what do you feel you bring to the team and what are some of your racing goals?
I have helpful information and tips for racing on sealed/glued surfaces considering I practice on it five days a week. I’m also a representative in our hobby shop. When I win a race the locals ask what to buy. Some goals would be to have a ROAR title under my name and to be an asset to the team.
3. When life interferes and you can’t wheel your RC car, how do you quench your thirst for RC?
While I work on my cars, I like to watch 5150 Production’s Come Race With Us documentaries because they’re so interesting especially when you don’t know much about the past of these big names.
4. Name one JConcepts product that you feel is overlooked by many but you find it very useful. It could be a tool, tread pattern, wing, etc.
I love to use the lexan car stands and while they may not be overlooked, but they certainly aren’t as present compared to a metal stands. It’s the perfect height for truck based platforms and even 1/8th scale cars.
5. What other hobbies are you into besides RC cars?
When I’m not around anything RC then I’m most likely playing video games. Most of the time I’m playing with people I’ve met in racing.
