Race Team Update – March 2023 Week #4

Spring is in the air and the JConcepts race team springs into action once again on tracks around the world. Read about our winning ways in this new installment of the Race Team Update!

We start this week’s report down in Callahan, FL. This past weekend was Round 3 of the Florida RC Championships that was held at Callahan Off Road RC Raceway and it brought out 200 entries! Team driver Tony Rivas signed up for this race and at the end of the event he would finish 3rd in 40+ 1/8 Electric Buggy, plus set the TQ and take the win in the Open 1/8 Electric Buggy class!

His teammate Carl Lebo also competed in the 40+ 1/8 Electric Buggy class and finished 4th overall! And taking the win in this class was JConcepts driver AJ Johnson!

Carl also ran in the 40+ 1/8 Nitro Buggy class and would finish 3rd on the podium! Joining him on the podium in 2nd place was his tire teammate AJ Johnson!

Team driver Patrick Rossiter Jr. competed in two classes at this race. In the Pro 1/8 Nitro Buggy class he started 2nd on the grid, but suffered a flameout during the event which ended his run with a DNF. He had better luck in the Open 1/8 Electric Truggy class as he would set the TQ and take the W! Joining him on the truggy podium was his JC teammate Carlos Gonzalez in 3rd place!

JC driver Rob Lupo also raced in the 40+ and Pro 1/8 Nitro Buggy classes this past weekend. He would finish 9th overall in pro buggy and 5th place in the 40+ class!

Team driver Joshua Vicidomini signed up to compete in the Pro 1/8 Nitro Buggy and Truggy classes at this race. He would finish 6th overall in the buggy class and 3rd place in truggy!

Staying in Florida let’s now head to Coral Springs where the Coral Springs RC Track is located. This past weekend they hosted Round 5 of the Mayhem 5 Series and team driver Reuben Diaz signed up in the 17.5 2wd Buggy and 13.5 Stadium Truck classes. He would go on to take the win in both classes plus a TQ in stadium truck!

Heading up the East Coast we stop in at Adrenaline RC Raceway in Winchester, VA for our next update. This past weekend was their Nitro Spring Fling event that saw over 100 entries! Competing there for the team was JC driver Enzo Albertoni. He competed in two classes and finished 6th in Invite 1/8 Electric Buggy and 4th place in the Invite 1/8 Nitro Buggy class!

Team driver Chris Fokianos ran in the 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes. He would go on to finish 7th in the e buggy class, and in the nitro class he bumped up from the B Main to finish in 3rd place!

Going even further to the Northeast we find ourselves at RC Excitement in Fitchburg, MA. They recently held their Double Down Off-Road trophy event, and team driver Matt Perault competed in 17.5 2wd Buggy along with 40+ 13.5 and 13.5 4wd Buggy. At the end of the day he would finish 2nd in the 17.5 class along with a TQ in the 13.5 4wd class and the overall win both 13.5 classes!

Zipping over to Lebanon, OH we get our next report from team driver Aaron Pendleton. He recently competed at Queen City RC for their Points Series event in two different classes. He would finish 6th in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class and 2nd in 21.5 2wd Buggy!

Sending it south we head to the RC Farm in Crossville, TN for our next tour stop. This past weekend they hosted Round 3 of the Snap Hard Racing League series, and team driver Jason Westfall locked up the final podium spot in the Mod 2wd Buggy class!

Heading over to Iowa let’s see how the team finished up at the March Mayhem race held at IORC in Webster City. Team driver Brandon Kearney competed in both the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes and he finished 2nd overall in both! His teammate Drew Rubenking also competed in these classes and he would set the TQ and take the win!

Team driver Mike Sanders raced in the 40+ and Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy classes. He took the W in both plus set the TQ in the 17.5 class!

Shooting down to Texas let’s see how the team finished up at a few different events in the state. Starting with JC pilot Brian Henn he let us know that he attended the 2023 Icebreaker at Indy RC World in the city Garland and ran in three classes. At the conclusion of the event he would finish 4th in 1/8 Electric Truggy, 1st place in Open 1/8 Electric Buggy and also a TQ and win in the 4wd Short Course Truck class!

Pivoting over Mike’s to Gulf Coast RC Raceway in Porter, let’s now catch up with team driver Joel Rodriguez. This past weekend this track hosted Round 3 of the HARC (Houston Area RC Series) which brought in over 100 entries! He competed in the open 1/8 Nitro Buggy class and would set the TQ and finish in 2nd place!

Flying out west let’s touch down in Tucson, AZ where the recent 3rd annual Southwest Paved Oval Championships took place. Team driver James Rodriguez raced at this event in three classes, and he would finish 4th in the 10.5 Crate class, 3rd in SC Mod and also locked up 2nd place in the Outlaw Wing Sprint class!

Moving to sunny California let’s stop in at LSR Speedway in the city of Sacramento. Sadly this would be the final trophy race this track would put on as they are closing their doors to find a new location, but the team made sure to go out with a bang at this final event! JConcepts driver Joseph Levin signed up for the Expert 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes, and he would finish 3rd in the 17.5 class, plus take the TQ and win in the 13.5 class!

His teammate Jay Wedsted let us know that he finished just outside the A Main in the 40+ 17.5 Buggy class, plus a 3rd place finish in Stadium Truck!

Moving north let’s see how the team finished up at the Northwest Rage Tour Finals in Spokane, WA that brought in over 300 entries! Team driver Robert Sorjonen competed in five separate classes at this race. After the dust had settled he would wrap up the race with a TQ and 2nd place finish in 1/5 Truck, a DNF and 11th place finish in 40+ 1/8 Nitro Buggy, a TQ and win in the Mod 4wd Buggy class, another TQ and win in the 40+ 1/8 Electric Buggy class and yet another win in the Gas Truck class! He also earns our coveted “ironman” award of the week for running so many classes at one event!

His teammate Brenden Bartlett ran a relaxing one class at this race and he finished 4th overall in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class!

Our final report this week comes to us courtesy of Australian team driver Andrew Selvaggi. Two weeks ago he raced at the Victorian State Championships, and he let us know that he set the TQ and took the wins in both the 17.5 2wd and 13.5 Buggy classes!
