Race Team Update – April 2023 Week #2

Another solid week of racing is in the books and it looks like there is no stopping the success of the JConcepts race team in 2023! Read about our winning ways in this fresh edition of the Race Team Update!

We start this week’s report up in Snohomish, WA where DieHard RC is located. This past weekend they held Round 2 of the Interstate Series which coincided with the 2023 Rug Champs trophy race which saw over 260 entries!. Team driver Cole Chura competed in the 13.5 4wd Buggy class and would set the TQ and take the win!

Heading down to Salt Lake City, UT we next stop in at Eaton’s Intermountain RC Raceway for this quick report from team driver Ron Chirrick. Last Saturday he raced at Round 2 of their points series in the 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes. He would lock up the top qualifying position in the 4wd class and go to take wins in both buggy classes after running AA mains!

Heading over to sunny California let’s check in on the team competing at a few different RC events throughout the state. Our first update is from SDRC Raceway in San Diego where the team was competing at Round 2 of the JBRL 1/10 electric off-road series which saw over 175 entries! Starting with JC driver Rick Riley he let us know that he took the W in the 17.5 Stadium Truck class!

His tire teammate Chris Raymond competed in both the 40+ 13.5 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes, and he would finish the round with a 4th place finish in 2wd, and he also locked up the final podium spot in the wheeler class!

His son Levi Raymond competed in the Expert 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes, and he finished 2nd in 17.5 2wd, plus a TQ and win in the 13.5 4wd class!

Levi’s brother Chase Raymond was also throwing down laps for the same classes at this most recent round. He would finish 2nd on the podium in the 13.5 class and he set the TQ and take the win in the 17.5 class! Joining him on the 17.5 podium were JC teammates Levi (2nd) and Doug Lariviere (3rd) to complete the JConcepts podium sweep!

JC driver Matthew Gonzales was back on the track throwing down some fast laps in the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes. He started 2nd on the grid for the wheeler A main, but unfortunately he ran into some bad luck and had to finish the main with a DNF. However, luck was on his side in the Mod 2wd class as he set the TQ and took the win!

Staying in the state we now get our next report from JConcepts driver Jeremy Bunting. This past weekend he competed at the season opener for the Nor Cal RC Monster Trucks JConcepts Points Series that was at the Rescue Community Center RC Track in the town of Rescue.

In the 2.2 class his two monster rigs “Bad Company” and “Crash Test Dummy” both made it to the finals in the racing bracket with Bad Company taking the win! In the Retro class his “Shotgun” monster truck also made it to the finals and finished as the runner up!

Heading out of Cali we cross over into Arizona to get our next report from team driver Ethan Kovalsky. Last weekend he went to the M & M Mile RC Oval Track to compete in the Arizona Backyard Oval Championships in both the 13.5 and Outlaw Sprint classes. In the Outlaw class he qualified 3rd overall for the feature main, but unfortunately he got tangled up with a lapper which ended his run. He had better luck in the 13.5 class as he would start in the pole and lead the entire race to take home the win!

Cutting a corner to Kansas let’s stop in at the RC Pitstop & Raceway in the city of Newton to see how the team finished up at the last round of their carpet series. Starting with team driver Heath Lawson he reports that he competed in the Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy class and finished in 5th place!

JC driver Mason Herrick was also at the finals competing in this same class. He would lock in another TQ and win for this round, and after the points were added up he would take home the series title too!

Shooting down to Texas let’s head to Thompson R/C Raceway in the town of Justin to see how the team ended up at their recent 2023 SC Mod Shootout event.

Starting with JC driver Kevin Lenderman he competed in both the Wingless Sprint and SC Mod classes and would set the TQ and finish 4th in the sprint class, and he also took home the win in the SC Mod class!

His tire teammate Jordan Hefler competed in four classes at this event. In the Wingless Sprint class he would break out to end his day, he set the TQ and finished 2nd overall in the SC Mod class, and in the Midwest Mod and Late Model classes he would take home the W! He also earns our coveted “ironman” award for this week!

Team driver Kevin Mcnatt also ran in the SC Mod class and would lock up the final podium spot for a clean sweep for JConcepts!

Tossing it over to Tennessee we get our next report from team driver Jonah Wilson. This past weekend he attended the 5th and final round of the ETRC (East Tennessee RC) points series held at RC Farm in the city of Crossville. He signed up for the Pro 1/8 Nitro Buggy and Truggy classes along with Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy, and he would set the TQ and take the win in all three of them! After the points were tallied he would also take home the points titles in both pro buggy classes too!

Sending it south we stop in at RC3 (Rocket City Radio Controlled Race Club) in Huntsville, AL to see how the team finished up at their season opener. Starting with team pilot Randy Enger he let us know that he competed in the 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes. He qualified directly into both A Mains and in the nitro class he was running as high as 2nd before a mechanical failure ended his run. In the e buggy class he would get down early but battle back to lock in 3rd place!

Hi tire teammate Jerrid Wright also competed in these same two classes. In the e buggy class he would just miss out on the transfer spot to the A Main, and in the nitro main event he would finish in 5th place!

JC driver Drew Williams competed in these same two classes, plus the 1/8 Electric Truggy class. He made all of the A Mains and would just miss out on a top 5 finish in e buggy, finished 2nd overall in nitro buggy and took home the win in e truggy! Joining him on the e truggy podium in 2nd place was JConcepts driver Trevor Michael!

For our final report this week let’s see how the team finished up at Round 2 of the Southeast Tri-State Challenge Series that was held in Augusta, GA at Augusta RC Supercross this past weekend. Starting with driver David Olsen he let us know that signed up for the Pro 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes, and when the event had concluded he would take wins in both classes plus the TQ in nitro buggy! Joining him on the nitro buggy podium was his tire teammate Mark Moon in 2nd place!

Team driver Rob Lupo also competed in the Pro 1/8 Nitro class and would finish in 6th place!
