In this edition of the JConcepts Friday5 we talk to New Hampshire team driver, Daniel Sedler!
1. How did you learn about RC car racing? What class did you participate in to begin with and why?
A neighbor of mine got a Slash and I thought it was pretty cool so I got one too. A guy who worked with my dad told us that they raced them locally so we went and checked it out. I ran in the Sportsman class with the Slash for a few weeks. Then, my dad surprised me with a Team Associated 2wd SCT that I started running.
2. As a new driver for JConcepts in 2023, what do you feel you bring to the team and what are some of your racing goals?
As a new JConcepts driver I hope to get as many people that I can running the products because I believe they are the best and most competitive. I want to test product, learn and continue to improve as best I can.
3. Stock or 17.5 2wd Buggy is the biggest class in off-road electric racing currently. Why do you think this is and do you see these as a problem moving forward with the racing industry?
I think that Stock was designed as a beginner class for lower level drivers to get into a less expensive and easier car to drive. Things have changed a bit now and people have been getting more competitive with Stock. Stock cars now cost a lot more than Mod because of the weight saving upgrades that one almost has to do to be competitive. I don’t see this as a problem moving forward however, I think there should always be an entry-level class such as 21.5 2wd buggy. I also think that people consistently winning Stock at big events should move to Mod.
4. Name one JConcepts product that you feel is overlooked by many but you find it very useful. It could be a tool, tread pattern, wing, etc.
I feel like the Razor and F2I wings are often overlooked. I see many vehicles on the track with their stock kit wings. When I started using the Razor and F2I my cars flew better and felt much more balanced.
5. What other hobbies are you into besides RC cars?
I love mountain biking, snowmobiling, fishing, hanging out with friends, and working on real cars.
