As technology continues to improve, track prep gets better, and tracks themselves get smoother, overall “grip” on tracks around the world is at an all time high! Often drivers find themselves with too much traction and unpredictable steering characteristics. The Sidewall Support Adaptors from JConcepts were introduced to create a mellow steering feeling and create a wider window for running certain compounds as grip increases.
Drivers such as Spencer Rivkin, Ryan Maifield, Dakotah Phend and more have found great success in the past using the adaptors especially in the front tires on 1/10th scale dirt and sealed surfaces. As 1/10th scale stadium truck and SC are seeing a bit of a resurgence with fresh kits being offered, we figured those platforms needed their own Sidewall Adaptors as sidewall flex is even more pronounced with the larger sidewalls and overall tires. We even offer 1/8th scale buggy Sidewall Adaptors which have been used at times by Jared Wiggins among others.
The Sidewall Adaptors add more support to the sidewall which will resist the tire from flexing side to side which can in certain cases add consistency and comfort. We have found the best luck when using the Silver Compound on sealed surface or on a wide variety of surfaces with the Stadium Trucks and Short Course trucks including on carpet!
