As the busy Summer season kicks into full gear, now is a great time to look back at the past three months to see what is new from the JConcepts crew in this Spring edition of the JConcepts Product Rewind!
The first sign of Spring for JConcepts was this injection molded long snout 17mm wrench. This works for all vehicles that use 17mm wheel nuts, and thanks to the long snout you can reach into those deep offset wheels like our Aggressor #3414 and #3423 wheels or similar applications.
It’s also lightweight and the large handle fits comfortably into your hand as you put it to work. Previously this wrench was only available when you purchased our pre-mounted Renegades or Fling Kings 2.6″ x 3.8″ Monster Truck tires but now you can pick one up on its own.
Then we re-released our Resealable Storage Bags with exciting new graphics. These bags were first released in the Summer of 2013, and now they are back again with a fresh new look.
They have been updated with our Speed Laboratory design, and strategically embedded into the design are several entry points for you to add notes and personal labels to keep you even more organized.
You can stuff these with your favorite RC accessories, or fill them up with your favorite race treads. The bag also features an integrated handle at the top, and it will store smaller 1/10 buggy and truck tires along with the larger 1/10 short course truck and 1/8 buggy and truggy RC tires too.
JCI Tucked 1995 Ford F-150 Clear Body
Our next release was this officially licensed 1995 Ford F-150 body that has been “tucked” for the rock crawling scene. By tucking the body this allows for more clearance of crawling tires when articulating over the terrain, but the body also retains the realistic features of the full scale body like a single window cab, plus door and hood lines.
The body is 7.5″ wide in the center section, uses a wheelbase of 12.3″ and the front nose is approximately 4″ wide. The rear of the body features a flat rear bed to make mounting the body simpler, along with a rear taillight area and tailgate piece.
To get you up and running over rocks quicker this body comes clear and is already trimmed out for you. Just use the included overspray film and included decal sheet to create your own custom look and then get ready to rock!
JCI Tucked 1978 Chevy K10 Clear Body
We followed that up with another tucked body for Chevrolet truck fans. The JCI Tucked 1978 Chevy K10 body comes clear and is officially licensed from General Motors (GM). It is 7.5″ wide in the middle with a 12.3″ wheelbase.
That means it is drop fit for popular crawlers like the Traxxas TRX-4 Sport, plus other rigs that meet those specs from Element, Axial and Vanquish. The body is pre-trimmed and wrapped in a protective film so you can spray your custom paint scheme.
To help you finish off the look of your new lid, four different headlight and grille combination decals are included to cover a vast assortment of Chevrolet and GMC trim packages and looks.
1961 Corvair Lakewood 12.3″ Wheelbase Clear Body
Next, we released our anticipated 1961 Corvair Lakewood crawler body. This body is also officially licensed to us from Chevrolet and General Motors and is sold clear and it is also already trimmed out for you. An overspray film is also included along with window masks and a decal sheet.
The dimensions of this body fit a variety of current vehicles thanks to its 12.3″ wheelbase and the center section of the body is 7.5″ wide. Body features include a round front bumper that blends into the fender work while allowing the use of many aftermarket bumpers to extend in front depending on your chassis of choice.
Double rear taillights are molded into the corners to separate them from the rear door and hatch, and fender flares border the body shell and show a slight lip giving the 1961 Corvair Lakewood body a more hard-edge punch.
2021 Ford Bronco 4-Door 12.3” Wheelbase Clear Body
For our next release we had to jump 60 years back to the future, and it is sure to be a hit with Ford fans. The new 2021 Ford Bronco 4-Door body is a clear, pre-trimmed body that is officially licensed to JConcepts. It uses the popular 12.3″ wheelbase that makes it compatible with the Traxxas TRX-4 Sport and vehicle builds from Enduro, Axial, Vanquish that also meet those requirements.
The center width of this new shell is 8.25″ and it is also 9″ wide from fender to fender. The body includes many design features like a front bumper with a series of raised and lowered sections, large fender flares to accommodate large 1.9” competition style tires and the roof has extruded paneled sections to provide some structure to the roof while still allowing a multitude of available positions for mounting the body.
It also comes with a protective overspray film, window masks and a pre-trimmed 2021 Ford Bronco decal sheet.
Front Scoop For The Tekno NB48 2.0 | EB48 2.0
Switching gears to the off-road racing market, our next release was a new Front Scoop for Tekno 1/8 buggies. This scoop replaces that little nose cone piece in front of your vehicle’s front shock and can be used as a tuning aid.
If a driver needs more steering for their setup they can install this Front Scoop and unlock another weapon in their arsenal. Each package includes two scoops, and it can be painted to match a driver’s paint scheme or left clear if desired.
Front Scoop For The Tekno NT48 2.0 | ET48 2.0 & Team Associated RC8T4 | RC8T4e
We also released a Front Scoop for 1/8 truck racers too! Just like the buggy version, this Front Scoop can be installed in the front of your truck’s front shock tower. Team drivers have reported running this Front Scoop revealed an increased feel and sensitivity in the larger sweeping sections, and also helped the truck’s jumping attitude in the tricky small infield parts of the track.
It fits both the electric and nitro trucks from Tekno and Team Associated, and two scoops are included in each package so you can equip both vehicles if you run them both, or have an extra scoop in your tool box as a spare.
Chrome Front & Rear Bumper Sets For Monster Truck Bodies
We then released four new bumper options for monster truck enthusiasts. First up is our Late 70’s F-Type Front Bumper Set. This bumper is an injection molded part with chrome plating, and it also includes plate style front bumper with a mock winch for that custom scale look.
The bumper surface has a mock diamond plate appearance and the winch guard has been plated too. This bumper is designed to work with several of our monster truck bodies that have a flat or bumper-less front end so please visit our website to verify which body it is compatible with before making your purchase.
We also released a late 70’s and early 80’s F-Type Rear Bumper Set too. As the name indicates, this bumper set will give your monster truck a retro looking 1970’s and early 1980’s look to it. Both of these bumpers include injection molded front and rear bumpers that are plated in chrome, and also feature a mock diamond plated surface.
Also included is an injection molded backer strip which is placed inside the body. This strip will help to act like a large washer in the inside of the monster truck body to provide more strength and we also include 3mm mounting hardware for the installation process. Continuing with the 80’s we also released a Late 80’s F-Type Rear Bumper Set. Each package includes two bumpers that are both injection molded and topped off with a chrome plating. Some sections come painted to help it resemble the full scale part and a mock diamond plate surface has also been applied to each one.
Also included is an injection molded back strip to help reinforce the bumper once you have it in place, and the included 3mm mounting hardware will help to keep it all in place. Our final bumper option for our retro monster truck bodies was the Late 80’s F-Type Front Grille and Bumper Set. This set also includes an injection molded grille to go along with the late 1980’s front bumper. Both injection molded parts that also include chrome plating, plus a mock diamond plate appearance on the top of the bumper.
The mega winch style bumper also includes a winch cable guard, and once the bumper is installed a driver can choose to add the mock grille light buckets inside of it too. Both items also feature painted section to give it a realistic look, and 3mm mounting hardware is also included for the installation process. Next, we dropped our latest 1/8 off-road tire called the Recon. This tire uses an unique tread pattern which consists of horizontal bars grouped together in diamond patterns, then staggered to make the appearance of “ghosted” sections in the tread pattern.
When you combine those together the ghosted sections look like large X spaces repeated throughout the design. The tire design also uses directional sidewalls and it is currently available in our Green (Super Soft), Blue (Soft), and Aqua (A2, long wear medium soft) compounds.
These are available for both 1/8 buggy and truck, are sold in sets of two and stuffed with our race proven Dirt-Tech closed cell inserts.
Our popular S15 body style is now available for 1/8 off-road truck racers. The S15 will fit a variety of current trucks on the market from companies like Mugen, Team Associated, TLR, HB Racing, Tekno and Sworkz.
The rear truck bed carries over a design from our previous F2 truck lid, but now it features the deep draw with surrounding geometry to protect the engine head while simultaneously allowing plenty of cooling access. The cab uses a single window treatment, and the roof has an incorporated center fin to help strengthen the cab while also providing some more forward tracking ability.
The body comes clear with a front nose piece that can be installed in front of the forward shock tower, along with window masks and a decal sheet to help you complete the final look of the truck.
1997 Ford F-150 Clear Monster Truck Body
Up next was another officially licensed monster truck body from Ford. Our new 1997 Ford F-150 monster truck body comes clear and includes windows masks, an overspray film and detailed decal sheets.
This body will fit a variety of solid axle race trucks sold today, and the body measures at 7.50″ wide with a 13″ wheelbase.
The wheel wells have been enlarged to add clearance for the racing monster truck tires while keeping the body’s scale look intact. The body also includes a cab spoiler and visor that can be added to the single cab to enhance the final look of this body too.
Radial Ceramic Bearing Set For The B6.4 & B6.4D
Our popular Radial Ceramic Bearing lineup has now expanded to include the Team Associated B6.4 2WD Off-Road Buggy. These bearings use precise tolerances and are constructed of ceramic and stainless steel materials. Each set is enough to equip your entire vehicle which includes those small steering rack bearings that a lot of other sets don’t offer.
Finish Line Radio Bags For The Futaba T10PX & T4PM, Sanwa MX6
We followed that up with the release of some new Finish Line Radio Bags for the Futaba T10PX and T4PM as well as the Sanwa MX6. Each bag uses the same woven fabric materials to give the bag a carbon fiber look, plus they are stuffed with a gray protective, inner foam.
The foam is precut to perfectly fit the radio along with some other accessories. An embroidered JConcepts Finish Line logo sits on the front zipper lid of the bag, and on the flipside is an inner pocket that can be secured with a Velcro closure to store your manual or other important paperwork.
The back side of the bag features a small metal ring to attach the bag to other luggage, and there is also a plastic business card sized holder that a driver can use to label the bag or insert a card with their contact info.
F2 Clear Body For The Tekno ET48 2.0
We then released another F2 1/8 truck body, but this one was designed specifically for the Tekno ET48 2.0. The F2 body uses a raised nose piece that planes off the front shock tower.
This design was chosen over the buggy style mount to provide a better look, a cleaner and more durable fit, and better flowing aerodynamics. A strategically placed spoiler outlet in the bed transitions to the mounting area, and the side-pods were inspired by our Silencer and Finnisher shells since they are compatible with several different electrical layouts.
An overspray protective film, window masks and a decal sheet are also included to help you craft the final look of your new lid.
Bar Codes V1 1.9″ & 1.7″ 2wd Buggy Tires
Next, we released some new treads for the vintage RC community. Starting with the Bar Codes V1, these tires are offered in two different sizes. The rear tires use a 1.7″ size while the front tires use the larger 1.9″ dimensions.
They are designed that way to sync up with wheels of that earlier area of RC vehicles like the RC10. Both front and rear tires are offered in our Green and Gold compounds, and they both feature retro sidewall lettering.
They are both sold in sets of two and they also include our And-1 open cell inserts.
Step Spike Front 1.9″ & Taper Spike Rear 1.7″ 2WD Buggy Tires
Our other retro releases were the Step Spike 1.9″ and Taper Spike 1.7″ tires. Starting up front, the Step Spike uses a 1.9″ bead mounting diameter to fit the early RC cars of the 1980’s and early 1990’s.
These are designed to be used on the front of a 2wd buggy, and are available in our Green compound. Each set also includes our And-1 open cell inserts, and the tire itself features design elements like a step spike design with a square base as well as a continuous carcass for side bite.
The sidewalls are also decorated with retro sidewall lettering to enhance its overall looks.
Moving to the back, the new Taper Spike tire is smaller at 1.7″ which again makes them compatible with period correct wheels. The tread pattern uses a continuous “bubble” carcass for more side bite, plus a very small rib has been placed on the sidewall to help control flexibility too.
This tire also includes our And-1 open cell inserts and is currently available in our Super Soft Green compound.
Individual Top Hat Titanium Screws
We now offer Individual Top Hat Titanium Screws for your next RC build! Whether you need a few screws to complete your project, or you want to pick up some replacement hardware or spares, JConcepts has you covered.
These screws are available in both burnt blue or stealth black color options, and either color option also uses silver highlighting throughout the screw.
Each pack contains four screws, and we also offer them in different lengths ranging from M3 x 8 to M3 x 18 too.
Short Course Truck & Stadium Truck LP Inner Sidewall Support Adaptors
We now offer our Inner Sidewall Support Adaptors for short course truck tires and also stadium truck LP (Low Profile) truck tires like the Smoothie 2 LP. We previously offered Inner Sidewall Support Adaptors for stadium truck tires, but due to the lower profile of the Smoothie 2 LP we developed these new adaptors specifically for that tire.
Each package contains four pieces, and they are crafted from rubber that easily bonds to the inside of your tire body with glue. The short course truck version also includes four adaptors in each package and can also be glued into place.
By adding the inner sidewall support adaptor and gluing it into place, the sidewall effectively becomes much harder and allows a driver to enter smoother arcs and radius turns on the racetrack.
JConcepts makes it easier than ever to finish off your next buggy build with our Pre-Cut Hook and Loop Tape. In each package you will find four strips (two hook, 2 loop) that have been professionally trimmed down to the correct width for installing your 1/10 off-road buggy body.
These can be applied to the chassis side guards without worrying about if you have these trimmed correctly or not. They can also be used for other various RC projects that require items to be fastened together so pick up a package for yourself today!
Swiper 1/8 & SCT Dirt Oval Tire
Our final release of Spring was our latest tread pattern for dirt oval racers. The new Swiper tire was designed to be used by short course trucks converted to left turning race machines as well as converted 1/8 vehicles. The 2.2 x 3.0” bead-based diameters work well with all SCT (short course truck) wheels, and our #3421 wheels were specifically designed for 1/8 dirt oval vehicles.
The profiled carcass is advanced with deep pads of directional tread poised to bite specific surfaces. The platform has a heavy center bar section of tread that provides openings and can help drive a vehicle in wet or slightly loamy conditions. The side tread is equally spaced, grooved and cut to slice through the dust, marbles, and small debris associated with dirt oval racing.
This is available in our Blue (Soft) and Aqua A2 (Medium-soft long wear) compounds, and are sold in pairs of two. The Swiper also includes a tire specific, harder Dirt-Tech closed cell insert that is black in color to provide the most amount of support for increased durability and drive-ability.
