Race Team Update – August 2023 Week #4

The JConcepts race team continues to stay locked in as they put in another solid week of racing around the globe! Read what tracks we were winning at in this new edition of the Race Team Update!

We start this week’s report down in Texas at Indy RC World in the city of Garland. Team driver Colton Jones reports that he just wrapped up competing in their Send It Series with a TQ and win which also gives him the championship in the Future Champions class! His father Jerm also took the title in the Open 1/8 Nitro Truggy class too!

Heading north to Taylor Park Raceway in Yukon, OK, team driver Kevin Mcnatt let us know that he attended the recent Round 3 of the CMC Super Cup Series that was held there.

When the event was over he took the TQ and W in the SC Mod class!

Kicking it north into Kansas we stop in at RC Pitstop and Raceway in the city of Newton. Team driver Mason Herrick recently competed in Round 5 of their Summer Carpet Sizzler Series, and he snagged the double TQ and win in the 13.5 4wd and Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy classes!

Next, let’s cross the border into Missouri and stop in at Fastlane Raceway in Blue Springs for our next update. This past weekend they held Round 5 of their Summer Series and team driver Shane Alberico finished 2nd overall in the Expert 1/8 Electric Buggy class!

His tire teammate Ashton Abdul also competed at this most recent round, and he also finished 2nd overall in the Expert 1/8 Nitro Buggy class!

Staying in Missouri we now go to Chicken Dinner Raceway in Neosho for our next update.

Team drivers Calvin and Braden Bruce recently competed in their 4 States Championship event, and when it was all over Braden would TQ and win in both the Expert 1/8 Electric and Nitro Buggy classes, while his dad Bruce finished 2nd in expert e buggy and took the TQ and W in the Expert 1/8 Electric Truggy class!

Crossing over into Illinois we catch up with team driver Brayden Billington. He recently competed at RJD Hobbies in Lincoln for their Harvest Cup trophy race. He set the TQ in both the 1/8 Electric and Nitro Buggy classes and would go on to finish 2nd in e buggy, plus picked up the win in nitro buggy!

Crossing the Mississippi river back into Iowa we meet up with team driver David Fast. This past weekend he went to Send It RC Raceway in Adel for their Triple P RC 100 lap dirt oval event. He raced in the 410 Sprint and Late Model classes and would finish a solid 4th place in both after two 100 lap A Mains!

Making our way up to New Franken, WI we stop in at Dirt Heaven Hobby & Raceway.

They recently hosted their 22nd Annual Corn Roast race and team driver Ryan Derenne finished 8th in Mod Stadium Truck and 1/8 Electric Truggy, plus a 4th place finish in Mod 2wd Buggy!

Also competing at this race for the team was JC pilot Richie Peters. He would finish 4th in 1/8 Electric Buggy, took the win in Pro4 and also set the TQ and finished 1st in Mod Stadium Truck!

Leaping over lake Michigan we splash down in the city of Wayland, MI where Wicked Pines RC is located. This past weekend this new track held their inaugural event which brought out over 100 entries! Team driver Kyle Munson competed in the 1/8 Electric Buggy and Pro4 classes, and he would finish 2nd in e buggy and took the TQ and win in the Pro4 class!

Heading south we head to Medina RC Raceway located in Medina, OH. They recently held Round 4 of the Ohio Extreme Off-Road Summer Series, and team driver Brandon Marsh finished 2nd overall in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class!

Heading south we catch up JConcepts driver Jonah Wilson who recently competed at the RC Farm in Crossville, TN for their Midnight Madness race. He raced in the Pro 1/8 Nitro Buggy and Truggy classes, and he set the TQ and took the wins in both classes!

Heading towards the coastline let’s now check on the team to see how they finished up at the recent 1/10 Indoor Champions Challenge held at Thunder Alley RC Speedway in Lucama, NC. Team driver Josh Parrish had himself a weekend as he set the TQ and took the win in the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy class along with Mod Stadium Truck! He would also set the TQ and finished 1st in a special Mod 2wd Buggy Champions Challenge too!

His tire teammate Dave McEwen also competed at this event in seven different classes!

40+ 2wd Buggy = 1st
40+ 4wd Buggy = 1st
Mod 2wd Buggy = 2nd
Mod 4wd Buggy = 2nd
13.5 4wd Buggy = 2nd
17.5 2wd Buggy = 6th
Mod 2wd SCT = 2nd

He also qualified for both the stock and modified Champion Challenge events. He would go on to finish 3rd in the stock challenge and 2nd place in the modified challenge, plus he earns our coveted “ironman” award this week!

Staying in North Carolina let’s now head over to Lake Waccamaw where the RC Pro Am Event took place. Team driver David Olsen competed in three classes for this race, and he would finish 3rd in Pro 1/8 Nitro Buggy, 6th place in Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy, plus grabbed the TQ and win in the Pro 1/8 Nitro Truggy class! Joining him on the truggy podium was fellow JC teammate Patrick Rossiter Jr. (2nd)!

Team driver Rusty Mihelich brought out the family for this race. Rusty would compete in the 40+ 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes, and he would race on to finish 3rd in nitro buggy and 2nd place in e buggy!

Rusty’s better half Stacey Mihelich competed in the Sportsman 1/8 Electric Buggy class where she finished 10th in the B Main!

His daughter Maddy Long finished with a DNF in the Intermediate 1/8 Nitro Buggy class, finished 5th in 1/8 Electric Truggy, plus she set the TQ and took the wins in the Intermediate 1/8 Nitro Truggy and 1/8 Electric Buggy classes!

And since this was a Pro-AM event her teammate was JConcepts driver Ken Rand Jr., and he brought home $500 with his 2nd place finish in the 1/8 Electric Truggy class!

Moving north into Virginia we get this quick update from team driver Brian Miskolczi. This past weekend he went to Adrenaline RC Raceway in Winchester since they were the host of Round 3 of the VCS (Virginia Off-Road Championship) series.

He signed up for the Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy class and would move on to finish 2nd overall! Joining him on the e buggy podium was his fellow JConcepts driver Jose Zayas in 3rd place! Jose would finish 4th overall in the Pro 1/8 Electric Truggy class as well.

Making a diagonal to Maximus RC Raceway in York, ME, team driver John Cravotta let us know he just finished wrapping up the Summer Points Series at this facility. He would take the win in the Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy class and also the series title in this class!

Now let’s get some updates from our international team starting with Australian team driver Jordan Isergin. He recently competed at Round 3 of the Victorian Drivers Series that held by the Wodonga Radio Control Car Club.

He would double down with two TQs and wins in the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes! And it was podium sweep for JConcepts as he was joined by his teammates Lachlan Munday (2nd) and Ray Munday (3rd)!

Now let’s head to Bego Racing RC Raceway in Napierville, Quebec, Canada. This past weekend they held the 2023 Quebec Classic which saw 270 entries! Team driver Daemon Holon finished 8th in 1/8 Nitro Buggy, 2nd in 1/8 Electric Truggy, plus a TQ and 2nd place finish in 1/8 Nitro Truggy!

Also competing at this race was JC driver Jordan Miles. He would finish 4th in 1/8 Nitro Buggy and 3rd in 1/8 Electric Buggy! Joining him on the e buggy podium in 2nd place was fellow JConcepts driver Damian Lamy!

For our final report this week we go across the pond to the UK for this update from team driver Jake Dell. He recently competed at the Herts GP where he made the semi finals in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class, plus a 5th place finish in the Junior finals!
