JConcepts 3DP Carpet Tires — One Tread, Multiple Vehicles
Straight out of the JConcepts 3rd dimension, the 3DP tire designed and developed for carpet off-road racing is a new winner in the line-up. Up to this point, the JConcepts Fuzz Bite, Pin Swag, and artificial surface tires have dominated events around the world. The superior design, tire compounds, and pre-mount availability have established these items as go-to favorites for racers for the last several years. Introducing the latest, the 3DP revolutionary tire capable of high-performance with advanced wear characteristics. A longer life span on the carpet is created by adding pins and surface edges without reducing driving stability.
Looking back in the JConcepts arsenal, a dirt tire was released in 2011 named 3D. The tire was developed as a half-pin and half-bar tire to give a lot of flexibility on different surfaces. Using this identity, the team from Groveland, Florida adapted the Fuzz Bite “reverse water tower pins” to the 3DP with a massive increase in pin quantity for the center portion of the tire. For the inside and outside positions, unique bars which have been cut and sliced for increased flexibility are positioned like the original 3D dirt tire.
More pins are added in the open spaces, utilizing the original concept to allow slightly more space on the outside. A radial ring is added to the outside portion of the upper sidewall to provide low edges of contact patch to the racing surface. The JConcepts tires include open cell inserts for plush control.
The same 3DP design is offered across the popular 1/10 carpet off-road wheel sizes:
- 2.2″ 2wd / 4wd rear-style fitment mounts to wheels such as the #3353 Mono, available in bright white and fluorescent yellow. JConcepts also offers the Pioneer wheels separately for modern vehicles, featuring the raised-panel design in colors such as retro pink.
- 2.2″ stadium truck fitment mounts to the #3354 Mono stadium truck wheels, available in bright white and fluorescent yellow.
- 2.2″ front fitment covers both #3347 Mono 2wd standard front wheels and #3353 Mono 4wd front wheels, also available in bright white and fluorescent yellow, with Pioneer wheels as a separate option for modern vehicles.
- 3.0″ x 2.2″ short course fitment mounts to JConcepts Hazard wheels in bright white, stealth black, and fluorescent yellow. JConcepts also offers the 9-shot wheels separately for racers who want a twist on the original Hazard look or prefer a more dirt-oval appearance.
A unique feature on all JConcepts advanced artificial surface tires is the scalloped tire beads, which remove weight from a normally beefy area. The tips of the bead touch off on the inner beads of the wheel, which leads to great alignment with reduced rotating weight. During the gluing process, that geometry also gives breathing room and plenty of edges and ledges for the glue to adhere to. The 3DP tires are available as unmounted options in the original pink (medium) compound and the new purple (soft) compound, which provides more grip when surfaces have worn or lower-traction conditions exist.
