Race Team Update – January 2022 Week #4

As the month of January wraps up the JConcepts race team keeps their momentum moving forward with more victories on the track! Check out where we won this past week in the Race Team Update!

We start this week’s report down at Loganville RC Complex in the city of Loganville, GA. This past weekend they hosted the finals for the GORCS (Georgia Off-Road Championship Series). There was 119 entries and the temps dipped down to 37 degrees which is very cold for that region! Even with the cold temps the JConcepts team stayed hot so let’s see how they finished up starting with JC driver Jason Westfall.

He reports that he took home 4th place in Expert E-Buggy and 2nd in Mod 2wd Buggy! In E-Buggy he ran on Green compound Reflexes while his 2wd used Green compound Sprinters and Rips. He also used a P1 body and F2I wing on his E-Buggy and his Mod 2wd car used a F2 lid and a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing.

Team driver Shay Brand competed in Pro Nitro Buggy class and he fought off the cold temps that night to take the TQ and win for the finals! He also was awarded the class title for the series and for the finals he used Green compound Reflex tires in qualifying before switching over to Stalkers for the main.

Teammate Cade Burnette also ran at the finals in the Pro Nitro and E-Buggy classes. In E-Buggy he would start and finish 2nd overall in the 10 minute A Main! He ran on Green compound Detox tires. In nitro buggy, he qualified 3rd overall for the 30 minute main event. As the temps dipped down to the upper 20’s he was able to put in solid run on the slippery track surface to finish 2nd overall! Aiding him on this double podium finish were Green compound Reflex tires, a S15 shell and a F2I wing.

Now we head south to Lake City, FL where Southside RC Raceway is located. They were host to Round 1 of the 2022 Florida RC Championships last weekend.

The JConcepts team was putting in work at this event and starting with team driver Carl Lebo he reports that he finished 2nd overall in the 40+ Nitro Buggy class while running on Silver compound ReHabs plus a Silencer shell!

JC driver Carlos Segui competed in the 40+ E-Buggy class and would finish 2nd while running on Silver compound ReHabs! Joining him on the podium in 1st place was JC mate Dave Duncan!

JConcepts driver Patrick Rossiter Jr. competed in the E-Buggy class and finished 2nd overall while using Black compound Reflex tires and a F2I wing! He also ran in the E-Truggy class and would take the TQ and win with Green compound Reflex tires!

Now we shoot over to Arlington, TX where GoldStar Hobbies and Raceway is located. There we find team driver Edwin Ortiz who recently competed at Round 2 of their Winter Series. He said he secured two 2nd place finishes on the podium in the 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes! His 2wd car used Fuzz Bites in the rear and Swaggers up front while his wheeler user Pin Swags in the rear and Swaggers up front.

Staying in state, we now head to the city of Abilene where 4way Speedway is located. Team driver Robert Chapman was throwing down some left hand laps at their recent 2nd Annual Brisket Bowl in the Outlaw Sprint and Midwest Modified classes. He qualified 2nd in both but unfortunately broke out in the Sprint class to finish 5th for the day. But, he had better luck in the Midwest Modified class as he would go on to take the W! Both cars used Green compound Dirt Webs and Ellipse tires with 9 Shot wheels.

Now we head north to Fastlane Raceway in Blue Springs, MO for our next report from team driver Matthew Pyle. He raced there over the weekend for their 2022 OFFROAD JAM trophy race and competed in three classes with great results!

  • 13.5 4wd Buggy = 4th place while racing on Gold compound Ellipse tires plus a F2 body
  • 17.5 2wd Buggy = TQ and win while racing on Gold compound Ellipse tires plus a F2 body
  • 13.5 SCT = 1st place while racing on Gold compound Dirt Webs tires plus a HF2 body

Next, we head to the ‘Land of Lincoln’ for our next report from team driver Brayden Billington. He recently traveled to RJD Hobbies in the town of Lincoln for their Blizzard Bash race to compete in three classes and came home with hardware in all of them!

  • 13.5 4wd Buggy = 1st place
  • Mod 2wd Buggy = 3rd place
  • Mini Truggy = 1st place

All vehicles used Silver compound Ellipse tires and Mono wheels along with 1/10th Buggy Tire Inner Sidewall Support Adaptors and a F2 body.

Out next stop is in Indiana and we roll up to the city of Granger where RC Fun Park is seated out. They recently held their Coliseum Classic event that saw 120 entries!

Our driver Kyle Munson was in attendance and competed in three separate classes. He would come away with two TQs and podium finishes for the race!

  • 17.5 2wd Buggy = 8th overall while using Ellipses ground down to slicks in the Silver compound on all four corners plus a F2 body
  • E-Buggy = TQ and 3rd overall while using Ellipses ground down to slicks in the Silver compound on all four corners
  • Mod 2wd SCT = TQ and win while using Ellipses ground down to slicks in the Silver compound on all four corners along with Hazard wheels

Also throwing down laps at this race was teammate Chris Rothwell. He would lock up the final podium spot in the 17.5 2wd Buggy and took the win in the E-Buggy class! He also opted to use sanded down Silver Ellipses tires plus Mono and Bullet wheels.

JConcepts driver Brian Jucha competed in the 13.5 4wd and 17.5 2wd Buggy classes for this race, and finished 7th in 2wd and 5th place in 4wd while using our Silver compound Ellipses!

Veering north we now stop in at RC ONE Racing in Macomb, MI. They recently held Round 3 of their East vs. West Series and team driver Nick Reppen competed in three classes at this race.

He would put in solid results for his first time competing at this track as he finished 9th in 13.5 4wd Buggy, 8th in 13.5 Stadium Truck and 4th in 17.5 2wd Buggy! He said he used the following gear on his rides:

  • Silver compound Ellipse tires
  • RM2 2.2″ Hard Inserts
  • F2 body on his buggies
  • Finnisher truck body

Heading northeast our next stop is in Foley, MN where 510 Raceway is located. This past weekend they held a Cash Days special race event so let’s see how the team finished up starting with team driver Kyle Holmberg. He reports that he set the TQ in Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy, plus Mod Stadium Truck! He would then go on to take the wins in all the mains plus $150 in cold cash! His winning cars used a combination of Silver compound Ellipse and Smoothies tires.

JC driver Christopher Malooly was also at this event and he finished 2nd to Kyle in the Mod 4wd Buggy class and took the TQ and win in 13.5 4wd Buggy! Both bugs used Silver compound Ellipses.

Teammate Joe Scaramell also raced at this event in both the Mod 4wd and 2wd Buggy classes. He would wrap up the day finishing a solid 5th place in both while running on ghosted Silver compound Ellipse tires!

Now we fly out west and touch down in Portland, OR where PDX RC Underground is located at. This past weekend was the final round of the Joe Pillars 13th Annual Rockstar Series and team driver Cole Hegar reported that he finished 3rd in the Mod 2wd Buggy class while running a S2 body, a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing, a B6.3 Front Wing and Swaggers and Nessi tires!

Moving south into California let’s now get a few updates from the team competing at several different events in the state. Starting with team driver Emma Ramirez, she reports that she recently visited Ricochet R/C Raceway in El Centro for their #KeepRCFun Series race. She competed in the Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy class and took the TQ and win while running on Swaggers and Nessi tires along with a S2 shell in the lightweight option! Joining her on the podium in 3rd place was teammate Oscar Ramirez!

Now we head to the city of Sacramento where LSR Speedway is located at. Team driver Kyle Layton competed there over the weekend for their Oval Super Nationals which drew nearly 200 entries! He competed in the Street Stock and Mod Sprint classes and would finish 1st in both of them! He said he used our Ellipse tires with RM2 2.2″ Hard Inserts and 1/10th Buggy Tire Inner Sidewall Support Adaptors in his victories.

Our final report this week comes to us courtesy of Denmark team driver Jesper Rasmussen. He recently competed at Round 4 of the EOS (Euro Off-Road Series) held in Daun, Germany. He would make the A Main for Mod 2wd Buggy and finish in 6th place while using the following gear!

  • Black B6.3 Fin Titanium Turnbuckle Set

Joining him on the mega podium in 7th place was JC mate Clément Boda!
